My sister just got bitten by a dog. What should we do to treat the wounds?
This little tiny dog just bit my sister while he was on a leash. My mom put hydrogen peroxide on it and put vasatrisine on it. Is there anything else we should do?

I think it will be fine. Was the dog limping, or panting heavily (if it wasn't hot out?) Was his eyes and nose runny and looked infected or unhealthy? Was he thin or had any wounds or sores? Was his fur falling out or did he seem to be sick in any way? Otherwise, she should be fine. If it starts to look infected or not healing quickly enough, than maybe you should get it checked out at the doctors.
Edit: Wow, some people are freaking out over this. Its just a dog bite, its not like the dog will go on a rampage and start biting everything and spreading disease. No need to report the dog or owner. He probably got nervous and panicked, some dogs are like that. Just keep it clean and it should be fine.

If she doesn't need to go to a hospital your doing fine...but insist that you see the documentation showing that the dog has up to date shots. Have the people sign something that says MY DOG BITE YOU, just in case your sister needs costly medical attention later on. If they are you parents best friends, too bad. If they won't sign something then report the incident to the SPCA or Police immediately. You never know what's going to happen a day from now.

There isn't much you can do as generally a doctor would leave the wound open after cleaning it and allow it to drain
Have your mother check to make sure that your sister has had a tetanus shot, if not she should have one and you need to report the bite to animal control.

Just keep it clean and watch for signs of infection. It may turn yellowish green, this is from the pressure, and will soon turn into a purple bruise if it was hard enough.
The dog bite needs to be reported to Animal Control, it's the law. do you know who the dog was or who owns it?

Be sure the dog has had it's rabies shot!!! If not talk to a Dr. If yes, just keep it clean and watch for any sign of infection. I don't know vasatrisine. I use betadyne.

Find out if the dog is up to date on all it's shots, for example Rabies and Distemper. Seek out medical treatment, but be warned, the dog might be euthanized for the bite!

You will need a Tetanus shot if you haven't had one for 5-10 years.
Trust me you do not want to get Tetanus.

No, that's fine as long as it wasn't deep or requires stitches.
I assume the dog is up to date on rabies vaccination - that's the first thing you need to find out.

check to see if its had a rabies shot, report it! (or just punt it, after all, its asking for it)
hydrogen peroxide is good. betadine is good too. Hydorgen cleans, while betadine protects from present/future bacteria.

Smack the dog in the back of the head and give it away the next day to a bunch of *****rs and be like " BEWARE this is a sick, vicious dog and say it's your problem now"
