What's the deal with the Flat Earth society?

My physics teacher got mad and starting screaming about them, and how they are complete religious idiots. But, I looked at their website, and they have said numerous times that most of them are atheists. I also found that they constantly talk about a conspiracy with all the world's governments, and that Antartica is a buildup of ice around the entire Earth to keep all the water from draining off the surface, guarded by snipers, attack birds, and genetically mutated fish that tow ships away from it to make the "illusion" of a round earth. So, what's their excuse for being idiots?

The only evidence for a flat earth is in the Bible (Isaiah 40:22).

The only important flat earth atlas is Cosmas Indicopleustes Christian Topography.

So you can't be a flat earther without being a believer.

Martin Luther still believed that the earth was flat in the sixteenth century:

Scripture simply says that the moon, the sun, and the stars were placed in the firmament of heaven, below and above which heaven are the waters...We Christians must be different from the philosophers [astronomers] in the way we think about the causes of things. And if some are beyond our comprehension like those before us concerning the waters above the heavens, we must believe them rather than wickedly deny them or presumptuously interpret them in conformity; with our understanding.

    [Lectures on Genesis]

This was three hundred years after the Catholic church had accepted a planetary earth in free orbit.

The Flat Earth Society is an elaborate joke. Satire.

Their "theory" doesn't hold up for one second.

MOST of the people on their site don't believe what they are preaching, but its fun to troll people. One person said to me, "I know its false, but it gives me hope that there are things that are yet to be explained"

But there are some that believe this conspiracy. about 25 people. Its larger than the westboro baptist church but smaller than the KKK

it's all meant as a joke mimicking similar, ACTUAL sites denying evolution.

    your teacher should've recognised that.

it's not atheists who is making radical christians look bad.
