I need a recommendation on a laptop.?

I am looking for a new laptop. It would be used 100% for business. I hate all of the garbage that comes on new computers today. I would be happy with just an OS and nothing else. At first, I was thinking about getting one with 8GB of Ram but, as it turns out, the software that I will need to run only recommends 1GB so a 4GB machine would probably be just fine.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks

Well i have a Acer Aspire 5732Z with 4GB RAM and a 500GB HDD, its got Windows 7 Home Premium with a Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.10GHz processor, and its perfect for everything i've used it for.

I have no specific recomendations however, one thing that i do with my laptops is as soon as i purchase them, i run the system restore and re-install the operating system from the restore partition or disk. then when the additional apps section comes up, there is usually a selection screen provided where you can deselect the "extra crap" that comes with all PC's.

Then I disable all services and startup items that arent needed to run the OS and are just taking up system resources.

Then remove all items from add/remove(programs and features) programs that i know i wont need.

Then make a set of system restore disks in case your Hard drive dies in the future, you wont need to go through the headache of trying to get a restore disk from the manufacturer.

now you have a clean computer and you can start using it for your business and install apps as you see fit.

I also set auto updates to notify me so i can choose which updates to apply so that MSFT cant sneak an unessesary app past me like they usually do.

Windows 7 is a resource hog, so you may want to go with the 8gb of ram if the cost is not too much additional. (right now i am using 2.6gb of ram and only have windows, outlook, and IE running)

Hmm why don't you go for a laptop that is based only for business usage. When you found one you like try to compare them with another and see what processor, hard drive, RAM, and etc is different between the two. Because some business either goes with HP and some company might goes with dell depend on your taste or preference for a laptop.

Well, I would suggest buying a separate OS disk. These it days it seems to be hard to find laptops without any nonsense on them, so your best bet might be to just format it when you get and then install the OS of your choice. It'd mean you didn't have to keep the pre-installed OS in mind when you look around, either.

I have a Lenovo, forgot the details, since I have added some memory and an extra hard drive and screen to it, but it works fine for all day use. I just play games on the net, since I am retired, but I like it.
