Is this a joke? Kobe was selected to the all-defensive first team.?

kobe bryant is the true definition of overrated. kobe is all hype which is why jordan said he's among the top 10 best guards in nba history (not top 3). i was surprised the nba gave this award to him last year when he only 20 blocks and its amazing the nba gave this award to him with only 12 blocks. to give you an idea of how low that is:

1. kobe bryan't avg (.15) and total (12) amount ranks him #49 and #64 AMONG GUARDS

2. 31 times in nba history an nba player had 12 or more blocks in 1 game

3. jordan had half as much blocks in 1 game as kobe for the whole season (6 blocks vs seattle in '86)

4. jordan's lowest block total in 1 season was in in 94-95 where he played only 17 games and he still beat kobe with 13 blocks

5. in jordan's last year at 40 y/o jordan had 39 blocks. he didn't even make 1st or 2nd defense team

6. scottie pippen once had 200 steals and 100 blocks in the season (1 of only 3 players to do this) and didn't even make 1st or 2nd defense team

Kobe is a great defender, but you're right he shouldn't have gotten an all-defensive first team spot. He's not the defender he used to be, its most likely he got it because he is Kobe Bryant and hes won the spot the last 10 years. In all actuality, there are a few 2 guards who are better lockdown defenders then Kobe this year including Tony Allen who rightfully deserved that spot. Unfortunately for Allen hes not a big name player like Kobe and most people dont see him play as much as Kobe.

P.S.- For proof just watch the playoffs, Tony Allens man on man defense on arguably the best offensive player in the league Kevin Durant this series has been on another level. Durant can't even get the ball in his hands this series because Allen has been all over him.

You people just don't know anything about defense, do you? Okay so tell me, why did Dwight win the DPOY this season if he didn't lead the league in blocks? Shouldn't it be Andrew Bogut? Not quite. Why? Because Dwight is a lockdown defender! He defends his man and his position very well and he makes it tough for the opposing team to get going. Also, why is Ron Artest and Shane Battier considered great defenders? Because they have tenacious D! It ain't about the stats, boys. Kobe is a lockdown defender. He wants the best guy of the opposing team. He's not gonna back down from anybody. I'm not even a Laker fan, much less a Kobe fan.

It is what it is Kobe is and he is no too old for the nba. Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe is no different than any other of team leaders.

I know...I've been saying it for 4 years. Kobe deserves maybe 6 nba all d 1st teams. Its a popularity contest...thats why those in between awards don't tell the whole story. Bird was a better defender then they give him credit for and kobe gets overrated..Money is the main reason. @Kobe24.. "When he DECIDES to lock down a player." So its an effort thing?...I can name a ton of people who have half of Kobe's talent with twice the amount of heart...thus making them better Defenders.

Maybe Stern's ploy to appease Laker fans, but yeah the selection was kind of bogus considering how great Wade has played this season offensively and defensively but noticing it again I thought Tony Allen was the more apt selection.

Kobe's time has passed. He used to be good on offense, but never had talent on defense. I especially don't like they gave it to Kobe instead of Wade because Kobe has such a horrible personality.
