Did you know the Jews didn't worship three Gods, they worshiped one?

Deuteronomy 6:4

American Standard Version

Hear, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah;

Darby Bible Translation

Hear, Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah;

World English Bible

Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God; Yahweh is one:

Young's Literal Translation

Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah;

New World Translation

Listen, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah.

Can anyone answer the following questions?

Why, for thousands of years, did none of God's prophets teach Jehovah's chosen people about the Trinity?

At the latest, would Jesus not use his ability as the Great Teacher to make the Trinity clear to his followers?

Would God inspire hundreds of pages of Scripture and yet not use any of this instruction to teach the Trinity if it were the "central doctrine" of faith?

Are Christians to believe that centuries after Christ and after having inspired the writing of the Bible, God would back the formulation of a doctrine that was unknown to his servants for thousands of years, one that is an "inscrutable mystery" "beyond the grasp of human reason," one that admittedly had a pagan background and was "largely a matter of church politics"?

Update:

Jehovah's Witnesses also believe in ONE God. We reject the polytheistic belief of the trinity. Like the Jews we believe God has a personal name, but we want to know and speak God's name with complete reverence. We learn about him from his word the Bible in order to draw close to him and do his will. (John 17:3; James 4:8)

Update 2:

@Old Account - When saying, “I and the Father are one,” did Jesus mean that they were equal? At John 17:21, 22, Jesus prayed regarding his followers: “That they may all be one,” and he added, “that they may be one even as we are one.” He used the same Greek word (hen) for “one” in all these instances. Obviously, Jesus’ disciples do not all become part of the Trinity. But they do come to share a oneness of purpose with the Father and the Son, the same sort of oneness that unites God and Christ.

Update 3:

@Steve - spot on!

    Here's the deal:

    Back in the first few centuries of Christianity, there was a lot of discussion and violence over who Jesus was, given the declared monotheism of Christianity. The Emperor of Rome, who was Christian by that time, was fed up with it and convened a council to decide just what Christians were supposed to believe. This was a major sticking point among the factions who felt that:

    1) Jesus was God

    2) Jesus was man.

    3) Jesus was a spirit that only appeared to be a man.

    A compromise was reached incorporating all of these. The fact that it makes A) no sense and B) a mockery of monotheism was waved away by declaring it a 'mystery'.

    In any case, the Roman-controlled church was not averse to multiplying gods, although careful to always retain the language of monotheism, and so incorporated the old Roman tradition of voting people into gods, which became voting people into sainthood. Mary was essentially deified to appease the Roman Diana cultists, who were politically powerful.

    In short, the trinity is the product of a Roman political compromise, in which the illogic is covered by handwaving, and which has successfully stood for 1700 years or so as a tribute to the gullibility of humanity and the practical skill of the Roman Empire.

    Actually, it is well documented that Judaism was polytheistic up until the Babylonian exile.

    The set of scrolls known today as the Bible were not put together until sometime during the Babylian exile -- and they contain entire sections that refer to a god known as El (and his court, known as the Elohim); and entire sections that refer to a god named Yahweh. When Judaism decided to embrace monotheism, they combined the two gods into one. But the original references still exist, and you can research this by looking up "the J writers of the Bible" "the E writers of the Bible" and also the Ugarit documents.

    Per the Ugarit documents, Yahweh was the son of El; one of 70 sons. Presumably these are the very same referred to in the OT where it talks about the sons of El impregnating the daughters of men.

    Dig deeper. The truth will set you free.

    Note to Steve: nicely answered, nicely researched. One tiny addition is that the Emperor himself claimed god-hood; and that ancient Romans were perfectly comfortable with the notion of multiple gods, and half-god/half-men.

    And did you know that Trinitarians do not worship three gods, but only worship ONE God? Did you know that it is impossible to formulate the Trinity dogma/doctrine unless it is based upon the concept of only one God who is Jehovah/Yahweh? Did you know that we do not use scripture to objectively prove the Trinity, but to PROVE that Jesus is God? Did you know that if we prove that Jesus is God, you will need an explanation such as the Trinity? Did you know that the role of Jesus was salvation and not to teach dogmas? Did you know that man was not qualified to enter heaven or learn about the Trinity until he was saved by Jesus first? Did you know that Jesus only then sent the Holy Spirit to teach us all truths such as the Trinity? Did you know that Matthew 16: 18-19 and Matthew 18: 18 gave the authority to the Church to formulate the Trinity as an infallible article of faith which cannot ever be changed now? Did you know we can formulate the dogma of the Trinity word for word today without ever having heard of any pagan influences? Did you know that Trinitarians accept all of scripture and are not allowed to ignore or reject any verses in it? Did you know that it is impossible to use scripture to prove that the Trinity is false?

    Christianity is the complete opposite of the original religion of the OT. How can you believe it? Christianity changed the religion so much (adding hell and easy converting) so more and more people join it.

    Even Judaism is a joke but if you're going to believe a religion at least follow the true form of it.

    Islam is the biggest joke and does not deserve my attention atm.

    Did you know that the trinity doesn't teach that three gods exist, but rather one that can appear in three ways?

    John 10:30
