Christians; What do you feel the message Jesus said to the women crying over him before his crucifixion meant?

St. Luke, 23; 28, 29. But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the paps which never gave suck.

My take on this pertains to the married women who bare children and how their children shall become burdensome in future generations while married couples who bare no children shall have much easier burden within this world. It's especially true today in our times.

My wife and I have never had children due to natural causes out of both of our control and we've never missed not having children. As we watch all that's happening in this world, we feel very very blessed not to have any children and our life together has been blessed in a way that words can't describe properly.

It is more likely alluding to the destruction that Jerusalem would see in about 40 years from the time Jesus spoke, when the Romans destroyed the city and the temple.

I say this since it parallels Jesus' comment in Matthew 24:19 ("But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!"), which is a stated reference to the destruction of the temple and the city (Matthew 24:1-2 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.")
