Why do Christians asking questions about homosexuality always preface it with...?

"Now I'm not gay, but..."

And then proceed to remind us at least five or six times throughout the body of the question that they are describing a totally hypothetical scenario, because they're totally not gay at all.

Do you really think you're convincing anyone?

Update:

szmba: Here's the most recent example.

I'd have to dig through my history to find the others.

Update 2:

jcsaves316: Not at all. I honestly don't care what other people's sexual orientations are. I just think it's hilarious that they go to such extreme lengths to hide what is blatantly obvious. It's cool, dude, we get it. You're gay. No one cares.

Update 3:

jcsaves316: Not at all. I honestly don't care what other people's sexual orientations are. I just think it's hilarious that they go to such extreme lengths to hide what is blatantly obvious. It's cool, dude, we get it. You're gay. No one cares.

Update 4:

Gah, why are there two jcsaves edits in there? Oops.

@ Crazy Lady: That is exactly my point. :)

Anyone who is comfortable with their sexuality doesn't have to reassure themselves that much.

Actally, the preface I usually get is, "Now, I don't have anything against gay people, and I have gay friends, but the Bible says..."

No, they're not fooling anybody except, maybe, themselves. BTW, I am a gay Christian---but very emphatically NOT from the evangelical/fundamentalist/pentecostal wing of Christendom.

You're probably right more often than not, me thinks thou protests to much, but not being a Muslim yet curious, I read the Koran, are you now going to assume that I'm automatically a Muslim.

I don't think you can say all Christan's do that, because if they don't you would never know they were christian. Also I know plenty of people who aren't christian who do the same thing.

    Way to stereotype!
