"Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these"?

What prompted Jesus to say that?

Children's ability to stay in the moment

Children's ability to let go

Children's innocence

Children's enthusiasm

What do you think?

My father always said Children are like little angels :) Is it one of tasks of adult humans to be like children?

In context, the disciples of Jesus attempted to prevent the little ones from the presence of the Lord...

"Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven" Matthew 19:13,14..

Jesus also said to His disciples, that if they did not humble themselves and come to Him as little children, they would not enter the kingdom of God...

The common denominator that Jesus was emphasising,is Humility...God resists the proud of heart but gives grace to the humble of heart...Humility, is the antithesis of sinful human pride..

Innocense, love, joy, play, enthusiasm is clear in a little child that brightens the heart of a parent. Imagine how God feels when He sees these little human beings display their actions by simple strong emotions and no knowledge of evil nor sin. A child may die now and he automatically goes to heaven. We adults must try to be like children with love towards all and the spirit to forgive and try to be happy in this evil world. Try to love God and serve and obey Him without make believe love and hypocrisy.

Children tend to make decisions by seeing what is right, not like adults who are influenced in other areas like money, reputation, etc. Children don't really have to worry about that much, so loving God is easy for them.

Jesus often called His apostles children also. And yes, it infers spiritual innocence....and imagine how simple we seem to Him who knows all. As they say, "blessed are those who haven't known the depths of darkness," which is prevalent in our times. So much spiritual hate against God, His Book, and His world.

it was their childlike trusting innocence.

Mat 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

contrast a child to Pilate who said "what is truth." Adults have callous hearts and do not easily believe. The truth they hear is filtered through years of broken promises and disillusion. A child has none of that baggage.

    Children believe what they see.

    Adults see what they believe.

Children are sinless, Adults strive to become.

Even though children sin from day one, they are not CORRUPTED by sin actually doing sin for the fun of it.

They are sinners, but still innocent of wrongdoing.

It sounds to me like 'Jesus' is saying that the children should choose to follow him on their own. They should not be brainwashed to believe in him and forced to follow him from birth under threat of hell, death, abandonment, family rejection, etc.

I do not know the context of this though.
