Why is Tennis Channel & ESPN3 not showing women's matches?

I noticed that in Madrid as well. I believe TC showed just the ladies final (or may be semi finals as well) but in Rome also neither of them are showing the ladies matches.

Update:

Yea but I'm referring to even centre court matches. If a ladies match is on centre court they switch to another court where a mens match is taking place or show a replay of one of the mens matches.

Update 2:

Regvtvere, really? Wonder why people spend big bucks and go on Saturdays to watch just the womens finals or even tournaments in which only women are competing.

Aren't most of the GS's now giving equal prize money? Please keep your daft reasons to yourself.

I was wondering the exact same thing. It's frustrating (well, for me at least) not to be able to watch the female matches, especially when they are becoming so very competitive.

In my opinion the Tennis Channel does not show as many women matches because of television contracts. I suspect that most of the women's tournaments are contracted to Eurosport ergo they legally can't be shown on the Tennis Channel, at least not as many live matches which is why a lot of the time we see only the semi and finals live or with a tape delay. Lets hope this all changes and we get more live men's and women's matches in the future.

Not necessarily. When Indian Wells was going on, I ended up watching a 2nd-tier women's match while a couple of top-rated men were playing singles at the same time on another court.

Ideally, they would cover every court, with commentators for each, and you could pick which court that you want to watch, be it mens or womens, singles or doubles. That's tough for any network to achieve.

People prefer to see men. They don't want to watch a ball go 100 MPH when they could watch men and see it go 140. It's the same reason women aren't paid as much as men.

audience doesn't watch, women's tennis on TV (outside America), will go the route of doubles, don't even show finals matches.
