Has anyone had a diagnosis of an enlarged heart w/abnormal echo test and what could the diagnosis mean.?

This has recently occurred to me and hit me out of the blue...since I am older but not THAT old. Wondered what those tests could REALLY mean. My (new) dr never even told me, which is another part of this whole "thing". I am very concerned am now looking to get a specialist to talk/see me!

I can understand if I had an enlarged toe etc. however, she kept this information/maybe never even read it! Any one heard of this, please advise of what it's CAUSE stems from/if you know. Thank you.

Update:

I know I have to see a specialist. My question was 'have YOU had this diagnosis etc.

Update 2:

This answer was Exactly what I was informed of yesterday. i.e. that the echo would/does not necessarily equate to the problem etc. Thank you.

An enlarged heart means that the heart muscles are compensating for some type of problem. There's numerous possible causes. The underlying problem can be temporary or permanent, and serious or benign. The underlying problem can't necessarily be identified form the echo. A follow up with a cardiologist is a good idea.
