How to clean mould off walls without damaging paint?
I'm living in a university hall this year (pretty much just a flat complex that offers places to students at university), and I've recently noticed that part of one of my walls (directly under my window) is mouldy. The material of the wall is some kind of board, it has a raised pattern on it kind of like hessian (but not cloth-like... sorry about the horrible description, I have no idea what the wall is made of).
Is there anything I can use to clean the mould off my wall so it won't grow back? Preferrably, something non-toxic (I don't want everyhting in my room to stink too much) and inexpensive would be great- also, I can't use anything too harsh (like bleach), in case it takes the paint off the walls because then I'd have to pay the hall for damaging the room.

You are living in a room provided by the University? Report the mold to them and ask them to have the wall treated as mold is dangerous to your health. It is their wall, they need to fix it.

I'm sorry but bleach is the only home remedy that will take that off. Is the wall painted or is it material? If it is painted you can use the bleach and it won't remove any of the paint. After you use that wipe it down using soapy water and a sponge. That is only if it is painted. Don't try it on material as it would bleach it out. You could also use mildicide but I think that would be worse and I'm not sure what it would do to material. Good Luck.

Hello Vivica. Sorry to hear about your mold issues. I recommend a product like Concrobium Mold Control (available at home improvement, hardware, and some grocery retailers. It will stop the current mold and prevent future issues. Even though it does not leave marks on most surfaces, be sure to test it first on an inconspicuous spot on your wall. It does not have an odor and does not use harsh chemicals. Best wishes on solving your mold problem and at the university this year!

With a bleach solution, followed by any cleaner to get the dead spores. Bleach will not harm anything on the wall.
But, unless you increase ventilation and lower humidity, it will be back in a week
