question about online job hunting?

is it better if I use the job hosting sites merely for searching employers and directly emailing my resume to them or or should I also send my resume to the employer via the job hosting sites? what are the pros and cons of both? which has the higher chance of being read and considered by the employer? thanks!

Update:

what i'm trying to say is which action has the higher probability of my email being read and considered? is it by directly emailing the employer (the trouble is if they have spam filters) or by sending my resume to them via job hosting sites?

General job boards are largely worthless for finding jobs. Monster is the best but very few jobs are found that way. One web site says Monster is successful 3.6% of the time in getting you a job: http://www.howtodothings.com/careers/how-effective... I've seen figures twice that high--but that's still a lousy success rate.

(Plus you'll get spam. A friend put a resume up on Monster and Careerbuilder. Four years, later Farmers Insurance is still sending him 2 emails a week for a sales job. He never expressed any interest in sales and has now deleted more than 400 emails from them.)

If you're submitting your resume to an employer on their site in response to a posting their job page has, that's a big step up. If you're blindly sending it and hoping, it's a waste of time.

Better--target the company or companies you want to work for.

Watch them on LinkedIn and other sites (even Yahoo Answers) and let them see you showing your stuff on those sites. Even ask for an informational interview to find out about the company (never mentioning you're looking for work.) By networking, you may find out about unannounced openings. Plus when you do send a resume in, somebody on the inside will be looking for it.

With job hosting sites (Monster and Careerbuilder) you can post your resume there as well seek jobs according to your field of work. Not only you find employers but agencies as well who look on those sites and when they review your resume and profile, they will contact you if they have a position that you may be qualified for.

If the company has a name and web page, you can forward to them. As well you can and always should read about the company through their profile. Information on their business can help you when you have an interview.

Besides the internet, always network with people through networking events as well. I find making contact with people helps more with the process in finding work.

    Good luck.

I read emails at home with my kids and get paid to do it. its really simple and doesnt cost anything.... i dont trust websites that want money. so i ended up at hits4pay. no sign up fees and it doesnt promise youll make thousands a day. its slow going at first. you get paid $10.00 to sign up and $0.02 per email you read. these emails are not sent to an email address, the website has an internal inbox. (really nice.).,... so i did it for a few days... i averaged about 7-10 emails a day... well $0.20 a day wasnt gonna help. so i started recruiting others. That's when you make the big bucks!!!

I have 50+ people directly under me and they all have people under them... so now lets say that only half of them read their emails everyday (10 emails x 55 people x 0.01) Im making $5.50/day for doing nothing!!!!

There are umpteen number of fraudsters to cheat people who are look'ng for home based jobs. You should be very careful and

dont ever invest anything as upfront money as most of them who demand money in advance are cheats.

Instead of emailing your resume you should be mailing a paper copy, along with a cover letter.
