How do I get toy clay off my car's dashboard?

My friends made a bunch of cute little models out of cheap toy clay and put in on my dashboard, thinking sun would make them dry. Awesome. What I'm left is a bunch of soggy, melted looking clay that has now spread all over my dash. I tried with water and a paper towel, but it only seems to spread the clay around. Help!

Rub a piece of Ice over the Area for a few minutes- & then rub a rough, dry cloth over it. Maybe THAT will work...

It sounds like the kind of "clay" they used is one that doesn't harden at all (plasticine, "modeling clay") or one that requires sufficient heat to harden (polymer clay--Fimo, etc).

Both of those are oil-based so you can try things like alcohol (or baby wipes which contain alcohol) or oil-things like cooking oil, Vaseline, etc. That will dissolve and allow you to get off most of the clay. Then clean the area again with alcohol or soap and water.

(the alcohol ones should be okay, but be careful on any surfaces where the underlying paint/colorant could also be removed especially if "scrubbing")
