Luxury cars are generally made with more expensive, higher quality parts. European cars also add an other element to the mix as the parts vary within models and tend to be more difficult to replace; I do all my own mechanic work so I can't tell you what a mechanic will charge you but the tools needed are often specialised and the mechanic may charge you a surcharge for requiring special tools as well.
Here's an example: I recently changed the brakes on my Ford and my Saab.. Ford brake pads cost: $40/pair; Saab pads cost: $90/pair. I also had to order a special socket that was only available online (none of the auto stores carried it in stock) which cost me $15. Not every part is going to be a 125% upcharge but you are definitely gonna have to hand over some extra dough simply for parts..
Also, it should be noted that most European cars require 93 octane (Premium) gasoline.
I don't mean to discourage you at all 'cause if you can afford it, European cars are pretty much the best-built cars on the road... just know it definitely comes with a cost... based on your choices, the Caddy would be the cheapest to repair simply because the parts are American; it is still a luxury car with premium parts but it also shares some of the standard parts as well... and you really can't go wrong with a Caddy...

I can tell that you the type of person who should be driving a Honda not BMW OR A MERCEDES!
These cars can be pricey to maintain, and seriously, listen, they are CRAP and nothing but a headache, and make you look like trash to the mechanic, etc, if you are one of these guy just driving the car for image appeal and you never take care of it right. I see this crap all the time and it pissed me of and makes me sad because it is people like you that RUIN these cars for the NEXT buyer, then everyone is all like "OHH BMW IS CRAP, MERCDES IS CRAP, ETC" it is not, it is the owners, the ones who do not have the right mindset, money and or maturity to own of these cars that turns them to crap for the next owner to deal with.
I can tell you this, It really depends on what your mechanic is charging, but a well maintained Mercedes needs much less maintenance than a BMW, and also parts tend to be cheaper.
EDIT:
for the guy under me, you are right, if the BMW's and Merc's are maintained 100% properly, to all specs, no jiffy lube bullshit, you NEED a specialist, then yes, THEY NEVER BREAK DOWN. it is the owners that ruin these cars... You know, at least once or twice a day some asshole will bring his BMW OR MERC that he got maintained at jiffy lube or some shithole to our shop because they "couldn't reset the light"-etc or we will have vehicles towed in because people tried to get the brakes on say an A8 or S550 done at "just for brakes", and they end up a bill that several thousand dollars more than what it would have been if they just brought to a specialist to begin with.. This is what i foresee in OP's future. (You needed brake pads, maybe rotors too, and because you took it to an unqualified tech to "save money" now you need all new pistons and a computer reprogramming. Think its BS, THINK AGAIN. But hey, it is people like you that enhance my job security and futures-and I am only being so blunt because this is an anonymous thing, I do not work Saturdays, so I figure I will sit around and talk **** about cars until the hockey games on in a few hours :-)
The never models it is all computers, the grease monkey days of mechanics are over, if you take your Mercedes to a grease monkey "butcher shop" as we call them in the biz, then yea, its all ******. Then the next guy buys the car from you and its nothing but a headache. Americans do not know how to own German cars, the owners ruin these cars, and then the next buyer inherits a headache piece of junk, then they go around telling everyone what a piece of crap Mercedes is ... FUNNY.

I my self have never owned one. My boss has one and she said it road and drove like a dream. They really have good costumer service. Here she has to take it to a dealer to have any repairs done on it. She had the oil changed and to her surprise and mine it cost over 300.00 Yes sir for an oil change. The parts are more expensive. If you can stay away from a main stream dealership you are better off. Be careful. You do get what you pay for at times. Just know your mechanic.

yes luxury cars are made with expensive parts and that why they want more money for each of the parts for e.g BMW,Mercedes,AUDI,VOLKSWAGEN many other cars that are expensive such as Jaguar...
Source(s): get a Volkswagen Passat because i think the parts that are used to make a passat are not that expensive BUT its a very GOOD CAR
