Blue Screen error on windows 7?

I recently purchased a Custom Built computer and began setting it up the other day.

I unfortunately ran into some issues which is rather frustrating. After turning the computer on for the first time; Windows begins to start up and i then get hit with a blue screen error. It only pops up for about 2 seconds and goes away; then the computer is basically restarted and redirected to the start-up screen since the computer "Recovered" from a improper shutdown.

My question is what can cause this error; more so from a computer straight out of the box?

The only things attached to the computer is the mouse and keyboard; the speakers and monitor. The monitor is a 24 inch flat screen. <--no clue if that info matters

Ideas? :S

The Blue Screen of Death may occur due to several reasons. We will try to find out the exact factor responsible and accordingly follow the troubleshooting instructions.

    1. An unsupported driver is installed

    2. Registry is filled with obsolete and incorrect data

    3. Problem with the Master Boot Record

    4. Overheating

    5. A recently installed software and hardware

    A) Remove Unsupported Drivers Installed:

A device driver installed on your computer may not be functioning properly or it is unsupported. Find and remove such driver, if any.

    1. Click Start.

    3. Click View | Show Hidden Devices.

    4. Do you find any device with an exclamation mark.

    5. If you find any, right click it and select “Uninstall” option.

    6. Restart the system.

    B) Delete Registry Junk and Repair Incorrect Entries:

    1. Download Reginout Registry Cleaner.

    2. Full scan the registry.

    3. Fix the problems that found in it.

    4. Reboot the machine.

    C) Repair the Master Boot Record (MBR):

    1. Insert Microsoft Windows installation disc.

    2. Reboot your system.

    6. The system may restart again. Wait till the following message appears:

“Please press any key to boot from CD. . .”

    7. Press ENTER.

    8. Click the option Install Now.

    9. Click Next button.

    Cd boot

    Dir

    Bootsect /nt60 sys /mbr

    12. At final, enter the EXIT command and press ENTER to quit.

    13. Click Exit | Shutdown.

    D) Control the CPU Temperature:

Make sure your computer is not overheating. Turn on the air conditioner in the room in order to control the CPU temperature. In addition to this, remove the dust located on the fans fixed inside the CPU. Dust may cause problems in the functioning of the fan and thereby BSOD occurs due to overheating issue.

A recently installed software, if any, may have installed DLL files which no longer supports your system. Uninstall the software to fix the issue.

    1. Click Start | Control Panel.

    4. Follow the wizard and restart the system.

In addition to this, remove the recently installed hardware, if any. For example, a graphics card or a sound card. Make sure it is designed for your operating system platform by checking out a message something like “Designed for Microsoft Windows” or “Compatible with Microsoft Windows” on its package. Contact the vendor for more information.
