What proof is required of God's existence to satisfy all Atheists?

Atheists, tell us what is necessary to prove to you that God exists.

Would you believe if He posted a profile on Facebook?

What if He sent you a personal text?

Does He need to arrive in a chariot from the clouds in front of your house?

Should He be caught in a giant test tube for experimentation?

Just what would be the final physical proof for you of a Transcendent Being?

Since witness testimony is not accepted, it has to be something you see for yourself.

(Oh wait, would that make you a witness?)

Well, anyway, what event would convince the non-believers?

All kidding aside, it has be something scientific, demonstrable, irrefutable, like a repeatable experiment available for peer review.

We just want to know what it would take.

    Let's see:

Facebook message: No, don't be silly. Anybody can do that, it doesn't require a "god."

Personal text: Of course not. Same as above.

Chariot from the clouds: if nobody else observed/recorded/verified it, I'd question my sanity.

Test tube: Um, given the claimed descriptions of "gods," not possible.

If we found, using powerful microscopes, written in teeny-tiny letters on every living cell in the world, the words "I made this -- the christian god of the bible" then that would be a decent start.

    Peace.

There is no scientific evidence for the Abrahamic god...

or any of the other localized gods of theism.

Here's the thing... a theory can be falsified by experimental

evidence, it is scientific. If something cannot be tested in practical

experiments and potentially falsified, it is not scientific.

None of the "evidence" that theists claim prove their God's

existence can be falsifiable. None of it comes anywhere

near the scientific definition of "theory".

On the other hand, science is NOT incompatible with Deism.

Unfortunately, in deism, God doesn't / wouldn't interact with humans.

I guess you can see where this is going. You don't have the proof,

so asking is rhetorical. Asking for our proof = asking for the proof period.

Btw, I'm a pantheist - not technically an atheist, I suppose. I have great

interest in cosmology and physics. To me, science is the only way

for us as a species to move forward. Belief in a god stops our forward

motion and growth. This would be devastating to us. Please try to think

about it from that perspective, okay? =)

Look sister, in all monotheistic religions god is an invisible being that is every were and can do anything. There is no way to prove the existence of such a being and considering the fact that in a few decades almost everything will be able to be proven by science, "miracles" wont be able to exist.

I go under the firm belief that nothing can be known for certain. But that which can be proven is the only truth that we humans can muster. Therefor the answer to your question is, nothing.

Kurt Wise is a PhD Geologist from Harvard and he said, this is a quote, look it up - "if all of the evidence in the world pointed to evolution being right, I would be the first to admit it, but I would still be a young earth creationist because it is what the holy scriptures say"

You ask for what proof is required. We do not have Kurt's psychosis, we will accept facts. If a god were to present himself we would accept that. We just do not deal with fairy tales.

There is no physical proof for what is Transcendental except that one see through the physical to it's Source. I have seen the physical world shift to its transcendental nature and so believe in its insubstantial nature. But this requires 'in' sight that cannot be had by the senses. Atheism requires that we experience the world from the senses so it cannot discern spiritual things even when they are staring it in the face.

Even seeing God face to face would not convince a blind man that God exists. Even hearing the voice of God a deaf man would not understand. Nor would a senseless man feel God's touch.

But let those who know pray for those who do not and let those who are hated love those who hate them and let those who have God's ear pray for those who do not. It is by God's grace that we awaken and while God's grace and self effort are one and the same thing it sometimes requires that we trip or push someone into the water to get them wet. Sometimes they are reluctant to dive themselves. They fear the cold or imagine they will have no fun being wet. But when they come out of the water they smile from ear to ear with delight.

Even then, however, some people cry, "Take away this Joy! I cannot attend to my riches and my worldly holdings when so intoxicated with this Joy."

All things which actually exist are made of matter and energy and are within the expanding space-time boundary of our universe. We are able to detect the presence of that which actually exists because the matter of which it is made absorbs and re-emits electromagnetic energy. If God actually existed, we (or our instruments) would be able to detect His presence.

The root of the problem is that the ancients defined reality differently than we do now. Thanks to Aristotle, the founders of formal Christianity pretended that mental experiences (including God's) are the basis of reality itself and the physical realm was presumed to be a mental illusion. All Christian traditions, including souls and prayer, descend from ancient Greek philosophy. Then. about four-hundred years ago, Descartes, Galileo, and Newton used experimental empirical methods which ultimately proved the physical realm actually does exist and is the true basis of objective reality. This breakthrough was called the Enlightenment and began the era of science. Humanity now knows for certain that our mental experiences are entirely created by natural physical processes within our self-contained living brains. In other words, that objective physical reality and subjective mental experiences are separate and distinct. Religion continues to stubbornly insist that mental experiences are reality itself.

As an atheist, I would be happy to join a modern church which acknowledged that God is a subjective conceptual abstraction and occupies the minds of human beings. Unfortunately, today's religions continue to insist sincere believers must deny their modern educations and pretend God objectively exists. It's been four centuries since humanity learned the ancient definition of reality was totally wrong. Unfortunately, because religions are bound by their inflexible doctrine they continue to deny the obvious fact that objective physical reality and subjective mental experience are completely separate and distinct.

The Aristotelian/religious worldview insists that matter magically emerged from mind. The naturalist/scientific worldview is that mind is an emergent property of self-organized matter. I see no resolution until religion finally accepts the fundamental principle of the Enlightenment -- that matter is the true basis of objective reality and mind is an emergent property of the amazing universe humanity occupies.

"Just what would be the final physical proof for you of a Transcendent Being?"

If he is 'God' then surely he can come up with some way to prove his existence that would undeniable, but a way that mortal man would not be able to come up with on his own. Looking out the window and saying "The world is complicated so there must be a God" ain't it.

I would need to observe such a being (if I were able to, within three dimensions) or be able to link evidence back to such a being. But to know that the Christian God existed, I would have to know who and what God is, not what he isn't. I would need to know physical characteristics and behavioral traits. The Bible contradicts itself (or should I say, shows multiple actions which seem to contradict themselves), so I don't feel as though those sources are accurate. I cannot give up my mind, foremost. Honestly, if God were real, he wouldn't care what I thought of him. He's supposed to be infinitely greater than me. He's GOD.

What proof would I require? I honestly don't know.

But this god of yours, whichever one you happen to believe in... well, he's all-powerful and all-knowing, right? So HE MUST KNOW what it would take to convince me, so I'll leave it up to him.

The simple fact that he hasn't done it yet means either he doesn't exist, or he simply can't be bothered. Does that sound like a reasonable conclusion?

The fact that we are alive is proof enough. Who else but God, can generate life?

Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.”
