The age of the fluorescent is coming to a close. LEDs are now more cost effective in offices when you consider maintenance cost. So I don't expect to be buying any more CFLs, especially considering how long they last. I will stock up on incandescents though, before they are illegal/impossible to find. My closet bulb only runs an hour a year so why would I buy an LED for that?

Well, the AGW denial crowd will look for any excuse to try and make it seem like there is a conspiracy to wrong them in some way, and CFLs are just one target among many.

My main problem with them is that the ones that I've bought have lasted only as long or perhaps 2 to 3 times as long at best than the extended life incandescents that I normally buy. I tend to stop buying things that don't live up to their advertised performance... They're just not worth the price considering I'm not saving much energy over my usual 60 watt bulb and the disposal issues. I've also had a couple of them break during removal, though I'm sure that is more of an issue with a socket or two that need to be replaced (however, I *never* had a standard bulb break in those same sockets). I haven't fully gone to the CFLs for the simple reason that I don't see any benefit it transitioning to them only to transition again to LEDs...so I'm simply going to transition to LEDs since my trials with CFLs have been decidedly lackluster.
