If you have Retail Theft on your record, will you ever get hired again?

So, I had this seasonal Job and as soon as I turned 17, I had committed retail theft. I was fired and very embarrassed. I fill out applications daily but don;t know whether to lie or tell the truth about it. What should I do?

And also, I heard you can sometimes pay to get rid of misdemeanors off your record. Is that true?

Please help :(

You probably won't get hired by a retail store. Most, at least the big ones, check something called the retail theft database. You can't pay to get deleted from that. When you turn 18, your juvenile criminal record will likely be sealed for criminal background checks.

never lie on a job application, they'll find out anyway.
