how do I replace an air filter for a 1988 porsche 911?

After I unhook the two clips,the air filter does not come out.Is there another step I need to do?

    There should be 4 clips, two on the front of the air box and two on the back. When all four are unclipped, the airbox cover comes off and the air filter pops out. It sounds like you've just undone the two clips on the back and not the two that are unseen, facing the front of the engine bay.

    If you reach around behind the airbox you should be able to feel them... the trick is snapping them back when you're done (but it gets easier the more times you do it).
