Cap needs to be removed?

I have a 95 Chevy K1500 Pickup. Reg cab, 8 ft bed. I have a Leer Cap on my truck. Problem is that it's sealed to the bed of my truck. I want to remove it, but how do I do so without damaging the cap or the truck?

You have to use wide putty knife and cut through the weather strip (in the middle) between the bed and rail. It takes awhile and is a pain in the rear. Then you have to clean it off and buy new weather stripping when you put it back on.
