Antonio Margarito's may be forced to retire, career in jeopardy, is there anyone to blame?
The broken orbital bone and the detached eye retina and eye socket of Antonio Margarito has yet to heal despite of the six months of inactivity. This seems to be a career ending injury and Antonio Margarito seems to be in the verg of retiring due to the beating he took from Pacquaio. Antonio Margarito may not have a lot of positive views but he is still human and it is always painful to see another boxer see his career in jeopardy in the ring especially. Margarito has always been known as a patriotic Mexican as he carries the Mexican flag and wear Mexican flag colors in his trunks. He always say to the media he is a true Mexican because he will never quit, but of course his ego has also hurt him as now his career may be permanently damaged.

Who should we blame?
A. Antonio Margarito for keeping his ego more important than his entire career and repeating it over and over again that Mexican boxers never quit.
B. Lawrence Cole for having a chance to stop the fight and even Pacquaio glanced at him repeatedly only to ignore Pacquaio and continued the massacre.
C. The Doctor, who had a chance to stop the fight but let it continued.
D. Robert Garcia (trainer) It is his job to protect his pupil from ending his career like that
E. Manny Pacquaio: Manny knew he was going to win anyways, should he have limited his assault even more than he already did?
F. EVERYONE It is everyone's fault, all of them had a responsibility to make sure no one gets permamently hurt
G. NO ONE, It is no one's fault, this is boxing, this is how it goes, fighters get hurt and careers get damage

B and D. You can't blame any other one but these 2. Marg is a fighter with a big heart and even when hurting will not give up. The doctor may not know the extent of the damage unless he does a very detailed exam which can only be determined by x-rays and other tests. Manny wanted the referee to stop the fight as he feels his opponent is no longer capable of fighting back, but he just can't be the judge of that unless he himself quit. Everyone hungers for an exciting and brutal fight and they were getting their money's worth. They don't have any idea about the extent of damage.

Margarito should have been permanently banned from pro boxing, not rewarded with a chance to beat the main man and make a shed load of cash win or lose. As far as the Margarito/Pacquiao fight went - the referee should have stopped the fight. I blame the ref more than the corner. The corner are sentimentally attached most of the time. The referee should have stopped the fight.

I would say F JON because it should be down to everyone to make sure any fighter is safe in the ring. The ref,the doctor and the corner men all have a duty to protect a fighter that's taking too much punishment.
Am i upset that Margarito maybe has to retire, absolutely not.I'm not a hateful person and i'm firm believer in second chances but Margarito never got the punishment he deserved. To do what he did and then be allowed back into a boxing ring a year later is a disgrace. He has know one but himself to blame and even though he was a warrior in the ring,he will always be remembered for the hand wrap scandal!

For me its Margaritos fault,I realise he is only human as you say but some humans do bad things and others dont, its up to them to choose to do things properly or cheat.Any sympathy I may have allowed myself to have for Margarito after his glove loading was certainly lost when he was mocking Freddie Roach's health problems.Margarito (knowingly in my opinion) loaded his gloves which increased the chances of him causing permanent damage to an opponent, he then had the cheek to mock Roach for the type of condition he would willingly have given an opponent for another win on his record and a payday. In the end Margarito made money off the Pacquiao fight which means he can live comfortably and I will be glad to see the back of him.
The whole thing of Mexican boxers never quitting is slightly stupid (dont mean to offend here, please bear with me), I understand there is more honour in seeing the full 12 rounds of a fight through but if, for example a boxer is losing every round and can feel themselves being irreparable damaged I think they have a priority to look after their own future and their families etc rather than make fight fans happy by remaining a human punchbag until the bell goes to end the "fight". I am not saying I want boxers to quit but at times I would rather see someone take a knee and come back stronger next time than allow themself to be pummelled and end up not even the same person again let alone the same boxer.

All parties involved bear some degree of responsibility, but ultimately...you have to blame the referee more than anyone else. The referee is paid to protect the fighters when the fighters can not or will not protect themselves. Fighters who are true warriors will never quit and never say die (say what you want about this being a wise or noble move, but it is what the fans demand of fighters...Victor Ortiz surrendered against Marcos Maidana and everyone today regards Ortiz as lacking heart - his victory against Berto notwithstanding). The corner men are simply too biased and too committed to their fighter scoring a dramatic, come from behind knockout victory that they can not be counted on to protect their fighter's best interests.
The referee, on the other hand, is the neutral and impartial observer. He, ultimately, is responsible for ending a fight if a man is too battered or taking too much punishment.

Its the Ref's fault. Yes people tend to do the ideal thing and not give up. That's the trainer and the fighter. The guy who must take responsibility for stopping a life threatening beating is the ref, more than anybody else. He has to save the fighter both from the beating and from the embarassment of quitting.

It's B, C and D.
Cole is in the position to stop the fight it's actually a judgment call on his part. The ringside physician did poorly in evaluating the extent of injury. Robert Garcia's excuse that he didn't stop it because Margarito told him not to is in itself irresponsible. Health and well being of the fighter comes first over stubbornness.

B, C, and D
One of them should've stopped the fight but those people are there for a reason, It's the referee's job to stop the fight when it goes too far. The doctor should've seen Margarito and stopped the fight immediately. Robert Garcia is a horrible trainer, to let his fighter continue. A good trainer would've known when to say enough is enough. Pacquiao is not to blame, he was doing his job. He even kept looking at the referee to stop the fight. He may be a warrior but he isn't heartless, he didn't wanna cause him anymore damage. But they didn't stop the fight so he had to keep going, he even eased up a bit

Welcome back JON, it hasn't beem the same without you. Where have you been all this time?
My answer is B and D.
Robert Garcia had the responsibility to protect his fighter. He has more of a closeness attachment to his fighter than the referee or the doctor. Margarito is his student and his friend. He should have cared and protected his fighter from unecessary beating. Margarito was badly beaten. The referee also had the responsibiliy to stop the fight. Look at the Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi fight. Paulie was not as hurt as Margarito but the referee stopped the fight because he knew Paulie had no chance and is only taking a beating from Hatton that was unecessary.

The person to blame is the drugs that he took.
But no rly, It's A and B. Mostly A though.
Because 1 reason that ref did not stop the fight is because of Letter A's Ego
