Did you see Hawkings' latest comment?

He said, "I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark."

This was in an interview with a reporter from the Guardian. Oh, and answer if you wish. I really don't care what you think.

I know that Dr. Hawkings is a very brilliant man. All I know is that I do understand what he is trying to say. I myself don't really care what happens when I die or the afterlife. All I care about is living.

    Source(s): Atheist.

He's a scientist. When it comes to non-scientific matters, however, he's no more qualified than anyone else. His views on the existence of an afterlife are no more relevant than his views on the best flavor of ice cream.

What was the reporters question to him?

Hawking is cool, he only really gives his opinion on theology when asked, and a little in his books.

He's not anti religious like dawkins.

Oh dear Jerri, please don't worry your pretty little head about what Stephen Hawkings thinks about that. I really don't think you could possibly produce an argument against one of the most knowledgeable humans of our times to convince him otherwise. Just worry about yourself and maybe try to save people that are lost and could really use some or all of your attention.

    Good luck with you!

He's written this in books. He's said this in interviews. I don't understand why it's considered news whenever he reaffirms his atheism. Aren't there wars going on?

Is it breaking news that he says he's an atheist because the world expects him to change his mind?

Big shocker: Stephen Hawking is an atheist, hardly news, but you don't care about my answer anyway.

No, I hadn't seen those comments. Thanks for sharing. I agree with that analogy. When you die, it's like someone turns you off, and that's all.

If you don't care what I think, why ask the question? But there you have it.

No man can say what happens after death, there's only one way to find out. Hawking may be correct, or he many be wrong. We'll all find out someday though.

If you don't care what I think, you 'statement' is not a question. This is Yahoo! Answers not Yahoo! pontification. And yeah I 'saw' his statement in passing but I did not read it. Because I don't care what he thinks, or IF he thinks or if he uses 10 adult diapers a day. Who died and left his twisted *** boss? You have a nice evening now Darlin'...
