How can you book a flight a year in advance?

I'm studying abroad in September in London. The London term ends in June of 2012. However, ticket sites won't let me book anything past April of 2012. How can I book a return ticket if it won't let me see dates?

All airline tickets are only available 1 (one) year in advance, if you go to a travel agent they can book your outward journey and as soon as your return date comes into date range then they can book your return. Some airtickets are valid for a year only, some six months, some a month etc.

    You have two options here:

    1. Some airlines allow open return dates on round-trip airfare. A friend of mine studied in Germany. He flew with Lufthansa. I don't remember if he booked an open return or if he just changed his return as it got closer.

    2. When I studied abroad in Spain, I bought two one-way tickets from Aer Lingus. I bought my airfare to Spain in June for August 2008. I bought my airfare from Spain in May for August 2009. I found a great deal on my flight home, so it costed about the same as a regular round-trip fare.

You just need to contact the airline you think you'll be flying with. Ask them if they have an open return.

    Good luck.

Wait until it gets closer to April. Airports wont let you look at dates past a certain date.

You can buy an open return ticket and just change it when your travel dates become available....
