3:10-13 The more fully we know the doctrine of Christ, as taught by the apostles, the more closely we shall cleave to it. When we know the afflictions of believers only in part, they tempt us to decline the cause for which they suffer. A form of godliness, a profession of Christian faith without a godly life, often is allowed to pass, while open profession of the truth as it is in Jesus, and resolute attention to the duties of godliness, stir up the scorn and enmity of the world. As good men, by the grace of God, grow better, so bad men, through the craft of Satan, and the power of their own corruptions, grow worse. The way of sin is down-hill; such go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. Those who deceive others, deceive themselves, as they will find at last, to their cost. The history of the outward church, awfully shows that the apostle spake this as he was moved by the Holy Ghost.

3:14-17 Those who would learn the things of God, and be assured of them, must know the Holy Scriptures, for they are the Divine revelation. The age of children is the age to learn; and those who would get true learning, must get it out of the Scriptures. They must not lie by us neglected, seldom or never looked into. The Bible is a sure guide to eternal life. The prophets and apostles did not speak from themselves, but delivered what they received of God, 2Pe 1:21. It is profitable for all purposes of the Christian life. It is of use to all, for all need to be taught, corrected, and reproved. There is something in the Scriptures suitable for every case. Oh that we may love our Bibles more, and keep closer to them! then shall we find benefit, and at last gain the happiness therein promised by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the main subject of both Testaments. We best oppose error by promoting a solid knowledge of the word of truth; and the greatest kindness we can do to children, is to make them early to know the Bible.

    2 Timothy 3 Commentary

First off, I'm going to guess that the purpose of the paper is to find out what YOU think it means and for You to analyze it. But if you need help, go to public/Christian libraries and check out a few different commentaries on 2 Timothy. There's a whole lot of people who have done a lot of research on this already on these verses.

2 Timothy 3:10-12 Paul is telling Timothy (younger immature Christian) to remember how Paul has been treated for preaching the truth....he is saying "look at me and you will know what happens and will happen to those who stick to the truth and preach the Word of God.- You will not be well liked or get rich by preaching the Truth".

2 Timothy 3:13: He is saying "But these others, the ones who are preaching lies either because they are evil and just want money or because they don't know what they are doing, these preachers and teachers will get rich, they will be loved and have large followings because they preach what people want to hear (and NOT The Truth of the Scripture and Jesus).

2 Timothy 3:14-17: Paul is teaching that we need to remember the Truth that we were taught and not run off and start following preachers and teachers that have many followers and are rich....He is teaching that if we stay true to the Bible, The Word of God...We will not be led astray by these rich show off preachers and teachers who like to show tell about Great things they say the have done and seen.

NOTE OF THOUGHT: It should make you look at these rich flamboyant Pastors and Evangelists on TV and Radio and churches and all their Millions of Dollars and thousands of members and big fancy churches and the LOVE THAT THE WORLD HAS FOR THEM

and make you ask "HUMM! Doesn't These people sound like the kind of people Paul warned us about as being evil and dishonest"?

Its not usually a good idea to take verses out of context, it helps to look at the surrounding verses so that you don't get confused on a lone verse. 8Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: So...God saved us and called us with a holy calling. It wasn't because of good things WE had done, but because he has mercy on us and forgives us for all the stupid stuff we do. God's purpose was already planned before He even created the world!! (That is pretty neato I think!) But anyway, Paul is talking about our faith and how we should not be ashamed of it because it is a lot bigger deal than we can imagine. I would recommend reading the whole books of 1 and 2 Timothy. There is a lot of good information on faith and other advice. :-)

You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Paul is encouraging Timothy to go out with strength, to gird himself with G-d's Word and be unafraid, no matter what comes his way. Paul specifically lists the places he was incarcerated or troubled by authorities during his ministry top let Timothy know (again) the way will not be easy.

    What does it say?

OK... you are playing hard to get... I see,,,

According to the Bible writers BEFORE his conversion Saint Paul was instrumental in the death of countless followers of Jesus Christ. He must have left behind a lot of widows and orphans. He never repented! He only wised up. After his “conversion” or rather change of mind Saint Paul doesn’t kill anymore, but he still has a special hatred for certain people. He doesn't like gays and lesbians, he hates most women, and he doesn't like Cretans AT ALL. He hates YOUNG widows, especially the ones that he left behind in his past “DUNG” life as he calls it. Saint Paul is not looking back with regret, but “stretching out” TO REACH THE SUPREME CALLING OF JESUS CHRIST! (Phil 3:13) He is denying any Church help to most widows and no apologies either. HE HATES ESCAPED SLAVES AND HE ORDERS THEM TO RETURN TO THEIR MASTERS! Can you imagine sexually abusive masters getting back their young escaped slave girls and boys? Saint Paul dedicated THE WHOLE BOOK OF PHILEMON to teach escaped Christian slaves to return to their masters NO MATTER HOW PERVERT! Saint Peter the first Pope goes along the same lines…

1 Peter 2:18 (NIV) SLAVES* (*including young boy and girl slaves!), submit yourselves to your masters with all respect* (*let them fondle you anyway they like), NOT ONLY to those who are good and considerate, BUT ALSO TO THOSE WHO ARE HARSH.* (*yeah… even those into some serious sadistic sexual pleasures! Hey, even a sex slave is a slave. He/she has no choice!)

Titus 1:12-13 (NIV) (Saint Paul says) Even ONE OF THEIR OWN PROPHETS HAS SAID, “CRETANS ARE ALWAYS LIARS, EVIL BRUTES, LAZY GLUTTONS.” THIS TESTIMONY IS TRUE!* (*Saint Paul is using strictly hearsay evidence on the Cretans). Therefore, rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith* (*Saint Paul is putting the Clergy to work! No fair hearing needed to determine the truth of this HOLY SLANDER AGAINST ALL CRETANS over 600,000 of them today that the INFALLIBLE AND ETERNAL BIBLE says that ALL OF THEM are no good!).

Saint Paul wrote the bulk of the New Testament! He laid down the basis for the new CHRISTIAN RELIGION. Obviously he doesn’t like the people on the Island of Crete. He is accusing them of being “ALWAYS LIARS, EVIL BRUTES, LAZY GLUTTONS.” Christians in America hardly know where Crete is located, so they can’t care less. The “born again” idea has no effect on the Cretan Christians! THEY NEED TO BE REBUKED SHARPLY THAT THEY ARE NO GOOD PEOPLE! If any Cretan fills out a job application anywhere in a Christian country Saint Paul is tipping the hiring manager that they are ALWAYS LIARS, EVIL BRUTES, LAZY GLUTTONS”! So good luck all ye Cretan Christians! How long would it take to remove a damaging disclosure like that from the “eternal Word of God, the Bible?” Obviously, the Bible is in desperate need of total revision, update or replacement because the religion in it is too primitive! The JWs and Mormons came with some absurd ideas to that effect and they seem to be very succesful

At the end of the Bible Saint Peter, an illiterate fisherman who became the FIRST POPE and one of the alleged Bible writers insist that the Bible writers were all “moved by God the Holy Ghost” to write the Bible and that they had no idea what they were writing about until they read it (1 Peter 1:21).

Higher IQ Christians in the Clergy can discreetly figure out the immorality of the Bible writers and manage the Bible “faith” accordingly until they get caught doing something silly, but they still manage to get enough Christian support to continue on in their profitable Christian ministry* (*job). They are powerful enough to impose their ideology preventing any PLANNED PARENTHOOD only because they already have millions of Christians believing the crap that they preach that is not even in the Bible! The Bible writers had NO REGARD WHATSOEVER FOR ANY FETUS IN ANY OF THEIR STORIES!!! A pregnant woman THOUGHT to have commited adultery was ALWAYS stoned to death along with her fetus!
