You are not only a backyard breeder; you are also a spammer! You have asked this question four times today. You don't like the answers you are getting? If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen! In the meantime we will all be praying that the AI fails.

Ask your vet. You won't say what breed you have but have you been a responsible breeder and health tested your dog and has the sire been tested. Does your vet. health test his dogs. As a vet. he should know the importance of testing before breeding and pass information to clients. I assume you don't show your dog or you would have an ongoing network of responsible breeders to call on for an answer.
Before you go off again. YES!!! I have work in a shelter and have contributed money. I have shown dogs and I never bred a dog without doing all the health testing necessary. I have Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and I'm not afraid to say so.

Show said it. There are way too many idiotic breeders like yourself. No matter how responsible you think you are being, you are contributing to the rising numbers of dogs that are killed every day in shelters. Leave breeding to the people that are designated to do it properly.
If you can't tolerate advice, it is only evidence of how impotent you are. Look at yourself and look at what you're doing. WHY are you doing it? Money? Pathetic. You have to see how what you do affects shelters. You can't volunteer at a shelter and then breed more dogs to end up there. That's not how it works. Wake up.

Why are you asking a bunch of strangers on Yahoo! Answers?
o.O
You'd be better off asking your breeding mentor. You have one, right? I have three.
ADD: You're right, punish the deed. So quit doing the horrible deed of backyard breeding. Do your dogs have their championships? Health certs?
Do you type in only caps, or can you type like a civil person please?
Ahh yes, so you help out the shelter in two ways then.. You volunteer and also contribute to the number of dogs there!
ADD: Wrong again buddy. I am a breeder, but I actually breed, oh you know, QUALITY dogs who have been shown and health tested! and I do voulenteer, I am a dog groomer, so I do rescue grooms.
I certainly do not help fill the shelter like you do.

best option talk to your vet, they know what is best for your dog in this situation
Why such a rush to breed anyway when there are shelters all over the U.S. that are overcrowded and dogs are being killed because no one wants them. save a life adopt a dog!
