I haven't had my period for 43 days, what could make it suddenly stopped or become so late?

that's basically it, I'm not sexually active and my period is pretty late, I'll go a doctor in the next week or so if it doesn't turn up, but I'd really like to know what could make it so late. Is there a possibility it could never come back?

Update:

whoops sorry, forgot my age, I'm 17 and had my first when I was 10

also what's PCOS?

if you started your periods not so long time ago it happens till your period cycle will stabilize.. don't worry, probably just some hormonal chages..you will get your periods!! just visit a doctor and all will be fine!!! take care!

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? Of course, if you don't want to answer that's entirely fine, but if you haven't had your period for very long it is entirely possible they haven't evened out yet. When I first got my period I was 11, but I only had about 5 periods in that year. I'm 16 now, and they STILL haven't evened out fully.

Another possibility is early menopause, which is where a woman stops menstruating altogether, but I do doubt this in your case as (I'm assuming here) that you're quite young, so I do not think this is something to worry about.

Go to your doctor, they'll be able to tell you more and put your mind at rest :)

    Hope this helps, Vicky xx

I often skip periods. The most I ever missed was 5 periods in a row. Still to this day I don't know why it happens to me. My doctor said it could be PCOS or simply stress. Are you more stressed than usual? There are many things that can delay a period. Weight loss/gain can also delay it.

It is very normal to have an abnormal period... I know oxymoron! It will come back unfortunately so enjoy the free pass while it lasts. Check out this website
