I consider myself a Young Adult/Fantasy/Dystopia reader so I'm a little overwhelmed by book choices lol and I really need recommendations based on books I already read so if you've read and enjoyed any of these books please recommend a few, and please don't give a giant list as I won't read them all and won't know what to pick from it, I'd prefer a couple of recommendations and perhaps a reason.

Just finished Angelfall by Susan Ee and loved it

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld was the first dystopia set I fell in love with years ago before even were popular vampires

loved the The Hunger Games

loved Divergent by Veronica Roth

read Matched by Allie Condie and found it blah, just reading the series to get to the end

loved Genesis by Bernard Becket

and Clockwork Orange was brilliant, that's it for dystopia

As for non-dystopic fantasy I've read all the the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices so far

I had a step sister for about 6 years during high school, we spent a lot of time together and were really close, our parents split up and they moved.

Our parents are on speaking terms and my mom has relayed to me that my ex-stepsister has attempted suicide at least twice now. I know a lot about what that feels like (though she doesn't know that), but we lost contact and I want to send her a message saying she can talk to me.

My question is how do you start a message like that, 'I hear you're feeling depressed, tell me all about it,' I'm not sure what I'd want to hear but maybe not that as I never had a big sister to turn to.

What would you say, what would you like to hear?

Okay so I had a dream about the guy who took my virginity, I always thought if I see him screaming profanities is the least of what I'd do, I'd make sure he knew I was angry and knew I hated him and knew he was actually nothing.

But in my dream I was with some friends (3 close ones and one I barely talk to) and we were talking about Roald Dali (I guess my subconscience mixed up Roald Dahl and Salvador Dali) and we sit down, and among other poeple, he's there on the grass with us. He sits me between his legs and puts his arms around me and starts acting as though he owns me again, and I turn all pathetic and submissive. What does this mean?

Also I had a dream like this before, I was being raped but didn't know the rapist this time, and again I surprised myself by not even fighting back

yeah it's that simple, in high schools are spring flings, proms, homecoming and all other dances for all grades or do seniors have their own and juniors etc.

I went to sleep crying last night, I was really upset but it had nothing to do with sex.

I dreamt I was in the forest with a friend of my best friend, I barely know her, and I went off on my own and this tall guy with dark hair forces me down and rapes me while I cry, I tried to keep my legs closed but other than that I didn't struggle, I just lay there. He left when he was done, his c*m looked like blood or I was bleeding I dunno. When I got to a phone I didn't want to say I was raped, I was afraid it didn't count because I didn't fight him. It was a pretty lucid dream.

In real life I imagine I would fight until I was close to being killed because the thought of anyone forcing me to do anything makes me angry, but in my dream I was all pathetic and sad. I don't know if I believe dreams have meaning, but what the hell is going on inside my subconscious? I'm really curious.

I want to study psychology in university, Bath, Southampton, Surrey and Royal Holloway are my top choices and I want to know what I could do over the summer to increase my chances.

I'm currently studying AS psychology, chemistry, physics and photography (don't ask, I'm dropping it anyway) and I'm attending an FE college summer school at Cambridge Uni to do arts and humanities (which includes psychology) but I'm afraid my predicted grades will only just make the entry requirement which might not be enough because it's so competitive.

I have the summer, so what can I do with myself? Also I'm planning on doing some volunteering but I'm not sure what to go for yet.

I usually write in 1st person and past tense, I'd like to stick to that but I'd like to write differently for example diary-style or in the form of letters to someone like in 'the perks of being a wallflower', except not those because they've already been done, can anyone think of any others ways besides these to make a regular contemporary YA novel a- bit more interesting. Feel free to change the tense and such.

I'm taking photography A-level and it's purely coursework based, in doing research and analysis one of the things we're asked to do is describe the composition of photos, but I'm not entirely sure how to do that, how do you talk about composition?

And dw, I'm not a rapscallion ne'er-do-well who is looking to cheat on her homework, just an A level student with a pompous jackass and an idiot for chemistry teachers (I did have one good teacher, but guess what, she's pregnant or sick or something, selfish right?) so I do a lot of independent study to ensure I do actually pass, which is why I want the answers.

I know there are thousands of questions like this already, but their answers weren't helping me so I thought I'd better ask for myself.

I'm currently in the 15th chapter of my novel, there are 56,022 words, and I've got the plot planned out so I know what's happening all the way to the end, but somehow everything I try to write has been turning out as garbage, just plain bad writing, like I don't know how to write anymore.

This story is my pride and joy and I've put so much into it, yet now I'm just stuck my penflow is gone.

So what do you think I should do about it?

so I've just got two new story ideas which I've been developing and would like to start writing at least one of them but for one of them I've got a 'where and how to start the book problem' and for the other I've got a 'what is the central conflict; why is the bad guy bad' problem, so I can begin neither.

I'd like some feedback from professionals about my story, my friend read it and though she connected with characters and the storyline, there were two major chapters she did not understand and I don't know what to do about it, I want to send my work to an agent or publisher, not ask for it to be published, just for some help editing. Do you think they'd read it? Who could I send it to? What do I say in the e-mail?

This is the opening of my story and I want to know if you would read on, you don't have to read all of it, at least the first paragraph and tell me if it draws you in, if my main character is believable (so far), if my first line is interesting enough.

The chill threatened to freeze my eyelids off as I walked briskly down a white blanketed road. I despised winter, I was almost glad to have been away for the start of it, but I was back now. Back in a frozen city.

Marni’s house wasn’t too far from the bus stop, only a couple blocks away, I wouldn’t have to endure this iciness much longer. I could understand how Natalia and Jorge were too busy for me, but I silently cursed David for not driving me to Marni’s, his selfishness was so unwarranted, did he want me to slip on ice, break my neck, and subsequently die? I concluded that yes, yes he did wish my death, nobody who cares about you lets you walk to your death in –20 degrees temp–

An ear-splitting noise resounded throughout the relatively quiet neighbourhood, breaking through the cold silence painfully. My head impulsively shot up to the source of the sound, it was glass shattering from one of the apartment buildings. It rained down in sparkling shards and decorated the glittering snow. I would have thought it a dazzling site if it hadn’t been for the body that came flying through with the glass.

It was as if she had been running and kept on going through the window, I swore for a minute her legs were still kicking through the air after she went through the wall of glass. I don’t know how I had any time to notice this, because within seconds the laws of physics began to apply to her again and gravity sent her plunging 14 stories toward the glass covered snow.

I fell backwards, winded by the momentum of her fall crashing into me. My neck snapped backwards and my head hit the road with incredible force, I almost blacked out, barely hearing the screams.
