Can anyone help me get over my writers block?

I know there are thousands of questions like this already, but their answers weren't helping me so I thought I'd better ask for myself.

I'm currently in the 15th chapter of my novel, there are 56,022 words, and I've got the plot planned out so I know what's happening all the way to the end, but somehow everything I try to write has been turning out as garbage, just plain bad writing, like I don't know how to write anymore.

This story is my pride and joy and I've put so much into it, yet now I'm just stuck my penflow is gone.

So what do you think I should do about it?

If this is the first draft don't worry and don't be afraid if you go off your preplanned plot a bit. Start another project or two, keep writing something until what made you inspired to write the original story comes back to you. The main thing in all cases is to not self edit on the first draft, stuff that sounds like garbage now will sound better after you set the first draft aside for a month or so and read it with more objectivity. Remind yourself you can then edit until satisfied.

Hey there, I can sympathize with you; it is occurred to me. One approach that can give you the results you want is that this: Make your self a record of five to ten one of a kind phrases (does not subject which of them you utilize) Then take a minute and begin writing sentences or terms that comprise as many of those phrases as you'll be able to. Keep on writing with out pondering an excessive amount of approximately it although what you write turns out relatively foolish - it is not being judged, however it's only to get your brain again in apparatus. Hopefully, the phrases will drift extra with ease for you once more while you get again to some thing it was once that stopped you within the first position. Writing is amusing so have a few with it! Relax and spot if you'll be able to write from a "movement of attention. I've been identified to jot down volumes like that. Write your prose in conversational speech - do not edit as you cross; go away the enhancing for later. If you'll be able to, with out getting your self in a clutter, discover out from in which you left off your writing what it was once (the proposal or suggestion) that halted you, then use that suggestion or a phrase describing it in with one of the crucial different phrases. You'd be amazed at what you'll be able to study approximately your self whilst studying tips on how to holiday the author's block. Above all keep in mind that you've got a VOICE and also you revel in making use of it. Goof Luck

I agree with all the other answers, take a break and do something different. If you don't want to stop writing you could start working on something that has absolutely nothing to do with your novel, neither in tone, subject or importance. Complain about the local Major, write about soccer, answer questions in this site, whatever...

Or read a good novel, I would recommend "The last temptation of Christ" by Nikos Kazantzakis, it is very stimulating.

Can you go and do or see something similar to what's happening to your characters at the point where you're stuck? One of the better ways to free up your writing is to go out with people and enjoy something together. It gets you talking and thinking normally again.

I agree with Adam, take a break. Try reading a book, one that is nothing like your novel. I like classic stuff myself, the older the better.

Take a break for a day or two and start back at it. Give your mind some time to refresh itself.

Honestly what I do is walk away from it for a bit come back later when I'm feeling more refreshed and stimulated.
