If u know the exact village he born or used to live in, u can find details from that village "sarpanch" or Talati, (office of the head of village) or the place where ppl get registered their birth and death office. may b civic center. one can find records of many years from that office. u need to collect information (name, surname, schooling, marriage, brothers, sisters, uncles etc.) about your grand father as much as u can so more easily u can find details.
