What the hell to do with my life!!?

I'm 15 and going to enter sophomore year next year. As a freshmen I can honestly say I ddnt take it to it's full advantage and played around a lot. I skipped school way too many times and my grades are showing. Im petrified that I'll have to reapeat 9th grade again. I don't understand any of this. My self esteem is somewhat low. My relationship with my parents is zero. They don't tall to me I don't talk to them. I got arrested in December for fighting with them and I'm scared that's gonna affect my future. Were reading the Odyssee in English and since i've been absent so much I haven't been able to read it and don't understand any of it. Finals are near and I know I'm gonna fail. But I don't want to repeat my classes again. That'd be an embarrasement. Advice?? I know I need to stop procrastinating and skipping school and stop being lazy. But uggh. And if you know a link to where I can read the whole Odyssee online that would be great(: I have a feeling I'm gonna skip again tomorrow.:( I really hate my life right now!-_-

I am fifteen as well, and I am going to tell you what you don't want to hear. Skipping a lot of your Freshman year and not doing well will make an awful GPA. Your freshman GPA is the most important, because it is the base. If you have a GPA lower than a 2.0, you will have to work SO hard the rest of your highschool year so actually make it decent. If you want to have a good future, you might need to repeat 9th grade again. High school should not be messed around with. Of course you should have fun, but grades are also a vital part.

As for you getting arrested, you are only a minor, so I believe it will not count once you turn 18. However, when wanting to get a job at 16, it will be hard to hire.

I cannot imagine the position you are in, because for me, my life is completely opposite. The first thing you want to do social wise, is to gain back your parent's love/trust/support/ect. I know that might be hard at first... but you can do it. You need to go back and remember all the great memories you shared with your parents when you were younger. I know being a teenager is difficult with parents, but a mom and dad are the people who help you through tough situations. Once your parents are gone, you will regret the bad times you shared with them.

To get your life back on track, do not be wasting your time on the internet, your cell phone, your iPod, ect. You need to keep that a safe distance away from you. Put it away and GET FOCUSED. I know you might be sick and tired of school, but you need to pull your act together. If you don't, in a couple years you will totally be angry at yourself. Right now, start studying for finals.

And reading The Odyssey right now will not be enough time. Since your finals are probably pretty soon. If I were you, I would study all your classes and just read the SparkNotes on The Odyssey. Yes, SparkNotes are not the best, but in your case, it might help a lot.

Last but not least, do not skip tomorrow. Do you understand what you are doing? You just keep digging a deeper hole in the ground. You know what you are doing is wrong, but for some weird reason, you keep on digging. And you have to stop. The more you dig, the harder it will to be to crawl out.

I really wish you the best of luck:) Stay strong and be the successful person you want to be.

I'm fifteen and next year I'm going to enter sophomore year. My dad left my family when I was eleven and died due to overdose this year, and because of this I have missed a lot of school and my grades are bad. My mother and I get along great, and my self esteem is about as high as it gets. I have been arrested for truency and am rather unpopular at school despite having a few friends. I read the Odyssey this year.

We're similar, but I'm confident I can pass this year and recover hence forth. You seem very different. Repeating next year sounds like hell, but you seem like you should do it. If you do, you can most likely do much better and school won't be as stressful. If you try hard I'm sure your parents will respect you more, then you might be able to create a relationship with them. Not only that, but your self-esteem will go up and you can be more confident in yourself.

Frankly, you screwed up. As a result you're gonna have to repeat this year and go through teasing from kids. But you can ignore that as long as you know that you did this to turn your life around, 9th grade will be much easier the second time and more fun as long as you can still see friends as lunch and recess. You have a chance to turn your life around and I think you should take it.

The fact you asked for advice means you want things to change, and for that, you're already so much better than alot of kids out there. Dont take the easy way out now, and try to live a happy live you can be proud of.

Lastly, I have no idea why you posted this here, but if looking for religious advice, I'm an Aithest and I seem to do fine as long as I keep my self-esteem up.

Well, it's interesting you posted this question in this category. Advice? You're stuck in your body so you might as well get used to it. If you're talking about Homer's book, just remember that Circe made all men into pigs. This was true then, it is true now. A guaranteed A+. And if you're into loafing, it might behoove you to consider being a professional loafer. It would involve an all expenses paid trip to the Riviera, first class, and watching the girls from Iponema walk by, sans French bikini. Life is what you make it and most of us tend to screw it up. But you can test the envelope. For example, hike down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and refuse to hike back out. See what happens. :))

Well first of all you do not get to heaven by means of being a well man or woman. You have a have a courting with God. And so far as suicide that is a gray line. Some men and women suppose that if you're a christian you're going to nonetheless pass to heaven. Some suppose that you just pass to hell considering that you havent requested for forgiveness. Honestly I dnt suppose that any person can provide a immediately reply on it. Like I mentioned its a gray discipline.

"That'd be an embarrassment. Advice?? "

    Suck it up.

In ten years of schooling I repeated 2nd, 7th and 9th class.

It was a bit embarrassing at the time but I had a ball.

It's MY life and from VERY early on I knew I was responsible.

Looking back from here I wouldn't change a thing.

If you've got a brain just a bit smarter than average AND some courage you can still go farther than the 'normal' people.

Enjoy it - show the world your middle finger... often ;)
