Is it legal to sign an agreemant for made between two people, not notorized or witnessed in this aspect.?
A credit card was stolen from me and the only way I could get the person to admit that they stole it was for us both to sign an agreement saying that I would accept some of their property as payment as long as I don't press charges. Now this agreement was only on paper written by us, no court, witnesses, or notary's. My question is it legal for me to press charges anyway and would I be breaking any laws in doing so.
Again the real question is can I press charges for this person stealing my credit card, even though we signed an agreemant for me not to?

The problem with this is that the person is likely to say they signed it under duress from your threat of "pressing charges". It is an avoidable contract when there is a threat of prosecution by one party. There is the civil side of this. You could go to DA's office and report the credit card theft and they will look at the facts of your situation and decide if they will press charges. That all being said you have some choices you need to make.

It would hold up in court as an agreement if you ever had to sue. Just think of when you sign a lease, it isn't notorized. I would definitely still make a police report though without pressing charges just for extra proof and to cover your own rear. Best of luck!
