Hauppauge is a capture card that connects externally by usb. And the reference to "Roxio Game capture card" never used it or heard of it, but capture card are like butt-holes, everybody is trying to make one now. LOL.

I would recommend dazzle or easycap if you want to say on the cheap side and don't mind recording gameplay that is 280p (blurry). costs anywhere from $10 to $100, depends on where you buy - records from composite cables - requires a computer and software run on a computer like pinnacle - Audio runs from red & white cables

if you wanna go a little more hardcore, then i would go with a hauppauge capture card - records from 720p-1080p. costs anywhere from $150 to $200, records from component cables - requires a strong computer and will not work without a computer. uses computer resources - hard drive, ram, etc. requires that a software be run on the computer, will not work without it. if you have a mac then you have to use a generic version software like eye... - Audio runs from red & white cables

even better is the black magic intensity pro capture card - records in true HD from HDMI cables 1080p. cost anywhere from $200 to $300. requires a super strong computer and like 3 to 4 hard drives. runs a software on your computer to work. needs a powerful computer or it will run with lag and glitches. Audio comes thru HDMI cable

I have and use all of these...

if you dont have a powerful computer or care to beef your computer up then roll with a HD PVR. specifically the HD PVR from newelectronx. records from 480p to 720p. cost anywhere from $100 to $189. does NOT require a computer or mac to work. can work with or without a computer by connecting it via internet or via usb cable. records from composite cables. outputs to component, s-video, and component cables. can be used with any editing software and can be run while you are playing your video game - record and watch at the same time. - Audio runs from red & white cables

all these options will play with lag, so if you are in an intense battle in online playing then i would highly recommend using a 3 way splitter. You can output with HDMI to your TV and record to composite with the right set up. So, don't let anyone tell you any different. Any video that is at least 480p can be pumped up to HD 720p, or 1080p with Adobe premiere - which is my personal favorite to use.

If you want good gameplay then go with the newelectronx HD PVR connected to a 3 way splitter.

Plug in the HDMI and Composite cables on the Ps3

connect the hdmi to your hdtv

connect the composite to your newelectronx hd pvr

connect the hd pvr componet to component 1

or connect the hd pvr composite to av1

start playing and press record on the hd pvr.

recordings will record directly to an internal hard drive (recommend at least 120GB) or external hard drive or use flash memory - it does it all ;)

when your done switch to av1 to view the gameplay - you can rename and do some editing directly on the hd pvr.

connect your mac or pc to the hd pvr and edit the gameplay with adobe premiere
