Sound is a longitudinal wave because [c] the oscillations in pressure are in the same direction the wave moves. Remember the definition of "longitudinal wave"!
I hope this helps!

Longitudinal waves are waves that have the same direction of vibration as their direction of travel, which means that the movement of the medium (air) is in the same direction as or the opposite direction to the motion of the wave. So only answer c. is correct.

None of them are true. Pressure is not a vector. It does not have a direction. It is true that sound waves are not transversal, but that does not mean that they are longitudinal.

This ain't too hard to fig,out is it? basically sound will take the path of least resistance and that is horizontal rather than vertical easier path ....thats your answer,no great mystery ...
