I need help with HD cable for my xbox 360?

I bought a cable since I have a HD TV, but the Xbox 360 seems to work with just the 3 red,white, blue 3 prong wires. When I plug the HD wire in, it doesnt work. Am I doing something wrong?

    while standard lead is plugged in you have to go to settings and change your display settings to hdmi

    if it is the HDMI cable u r using,

    some tv's (mine is lg) require u 2 change the input settings. most likely @ the top of the remote.once plugged into the back of the TV.

    yes the xbox will only work with those cables i tried that too with my hdtv had to go to hh greg and get the modified cable(it has the end for the 3 prongs and the end for ur tv) so it would work
