stray dog what can i do?
I am feeding a stray dog ( a podenco) she has just had pups in the wild and i have removed them from her and we plan to re home them. The mother is not in a good state but we can not get close to her to catch her she allways keeps a distance so all i can do is feed and water her but she is constantly scratching and losing weight ,i think she is probably infested with tics and fleas and possibly has or will get leishmania, does anyone know if you can get medication that can be added to food that i could give her to relieve her suffering.we live in a rural area of Spain so there is no RSPCA or similar and not a lot of local sympathy so any ideas.
thanks for the answers so far but catching her is not as easy as it sounds i dont know of any traps i can get hold of,the puppies are no longer in the area, and the tranquilisers mentined, well the vet we spoke to would not supply any in case the dog wandered away and fell asleep in a dangerous situation which in this remote area is a possibility,

You cannot just take these puppies and re-home them. As they were born "in the wild" they could be full of ticks/fleas or even be carrying mange and all sorts of nasties. Call the local council or dog warden who will be able to help. You shouldn't be feeding the mother either, she should be with her puppies to feed them what they need from the mother's milk. They will also be full of worms and even lung and heart worm, so you are not doing any of them any favours. Sorry, get them collected.

i think a canines is seen stray whilst he doesnt have an proprietor, regardless of if from abandonment or from being born that way. To my understanding, human beings basically "kill" stray canines by way of fact it form of feels noone will omit it or word it truly is long gone. on an identical time because it truly is gloomy that this happens, it nevertheless does.

your going to have to contact a vet and they should give you a tablet to put in the dogs food. then you break it up and put it in something the dog always eats even if you think this is bad it could work put a tranquiliser to put the dog to sleep for a while and when the dogs out take it to the vet yourself and he'll sort it out

well first let her know where her puppys are because the mom needs 2 see her puppys every once in a while [like put them near a glass door or play with them outisde] and secondly u can give her a little bit of meat like some turkey and get some of that heart warm chewable pill things and crush them up and put some in a slice of turkey and put it in her food and see if she eats it

You can get a live trap and catch her. If you cannot catch her, she would be better off being shot/killed, rather than living the horrible life of a stray dog.
