Most underrated wrestling match of all time?
What is a match that you feel doesn't get the creidt it deserves? Here are my 2: Snuka vs Morraco 1983 Cage match:
What happened during this match was basically the standard action you would expect from a steel cage match today . The in ring portion of this match was pretty run of the mill with no memorable jaw dropping moves happening during the match But it’s what happened after this match that would go on to be remembered for years to come. Jimmy
Snuka climbed the 15 foot high steel cage, and when he got to the top he dove off onto the dazed Don Muracco with his famed Superfly splash, creating 1 of the most iconic and most influential moments in wrestling history. Many wrestlers credit this match as what played a large role in inspiring them to become professional wrestlers. Among these wrestlers are harcore icons Tommy Dreamer, Mick Foley, and Bubba Ray Dudley.
This match is also attributed with giving inspiration to many wrestlers who are known for taking high risks . This match created a precedent in a spot that wretlers have been trying to top for years. Had this match not happened, Randy Savage may not have been dropping his famous elbow off the top rope with authority, there may have been no Jeff Hardy giving the swanton bomb off of a 15 foot ladder through 2 tables, and there would have been no Rob Van Dam doing his 5 Star Frog Splash or summersaulting onto the crowd, or Kurt Angle moosnaulting off the cage. Without this match many wrestlers who saw this match may not have become inspired to become professional wrestlers like the ones like Dreamer and Foley mentioned .
Flair vs Hart in 1992 where Hart won his first WWF title also marked a turning point where Vince slowly would move away from old veterans and moved with a younger generation which Hart led, where newer stars like Razor Ramon, HBK, Bret Hart and Owen Hart led while older stars like Savage, Hogan and Flair would soon go on to WCW in following years and in 1994 through 1997 the new gen. era was born where many legends were heightened to main event status for the attitude era . This match also showed that great technical wrestling was still valued in the industry and people payed attention to in ring wrestling ability instead of pure entertainment like Hogan and Andre, and thus future great technical wrestlers had a chance to shine in the midcard to main event status like Benoit, Malenko, Jericho, Eddie Guerrero ( though Guerrero and Jericho especially had great charisma) and such. Also this marked a period where the bigman didn't have to dominate and the little man with great skill could be a star.

RVD vs. Jerry Lynn - Hardcore Heaven '99.
Simply put, my second favorite match in the history of Pro Wrestling. It's a shame that this match rarely gets mentioned because this was quite possibly the greatest match you'll ever see. I'll summarize the match from top to bottom.
Chain Wrestling to begin is always a good thing to see from a Classic, especially one that goes all over the place like this one.
The fans in ECW are not only very vocal, but very appreciative when they witness something extraordinary and this is no exception.
“Whole F’n Show” and “F you Jerry” were chanted.
Jerry Lynn had an armringer, reversed by RVD and then he rolled through. Van Dam with a single leg takedown and then a sideheadlock on the mat. Fundamental maneuvers and then a wristlock by Jerry Lynn into a hammerlock, RVD reversed it in a wristlock and then rolled him up on the mat and got a two count.
Both men jump up after a great offensive exchange and the ECW fans show there appreciation in this re-match.
Both men leapfrog each other after an exchange off the ropes, they then miss a series of leg drops and moonsaults and the crowd give it a standing ovation.
Such an awesome sequence. RVD poses and the crowd loved it and showed him respect back.
This is an amazing beginning here.
Jerry Lynn wanted to become the “New F’n Show” just as he did at Living Dangerously.
A tie up and Van Dam got Jerry Lynn in the corner and had to back off before pointing to himself in front of the face of Jerry Lynn which aggravated him some more. Jerry Lynn stood there more confident and determined and that’s what made these matches so awesome, both men never were intimidated. RVD got amazing respect from the crowd. Alfonso wanted Van Dam to focus on the match at hand as he talked to the crowd.
Jerry Lynn now had to give Van Dam a clean break and then a boot to the mid-section. Jerry Lynn caught Van Dam but a slingshot and Van Dam landed on his feet. Jerry Lynn with a facelock, missed with the elbow sent RVD into the corner, he flipped over Jerry Lynn and the two men then stood there and put there fists up as this sequence was over and once again the fans give it a great ovation.
RVD with right hands and high kicks to Jerry Lynn and then Rob after a forearm went for a leap off the top rope but Jerry Lynn blocked the shot sent RVD to the apron and then springboarded off the top rope and dropkicked RVD to the floor and the fans show appreciation. Chris Jericho likes to do this move.
Jerry Lynn then jumped off the top rope to the outside on RVD and the fans chant ECW. Jerry Lynn inside the ring had Van Dam on the outside and he tried to get back in but RVD got dropkicked, and then had his face legdropped into the middle rope and was brought back by Lynn inside the ring upside down. Jerry Lynn chopped him in the corner of the ring and then got to the top rope and Jerry Lynn with a bulldog from the top rope in the corner of the ring right down to the canvas.
Jerry Lynn was shoved by Alfonso off the top rope, Van Dam took a chair shot to the head by Jerry Lynn, and then he blocked the kick and sent Jerry Lynn out to the floor. Fans applauded as RVD got the better of Jerry Lynn in that sequence. Van Dam stomped on Lynn’s head.
Jerry Lynn seemed to be hurt on the outside of the ring and RVD piced him up by the waist and he seemed to be lifting dead weight. Jerry Lynn was pushed into the guardrail over into the first row. RVD rolled back in the ring as he showed no compassion, no mercy towards Jerry Lynn. RVD stood alone in the ring and the fans chanted his initials. RVD then charged towards Jerry Lynn as he hit a flying clothesline over the steel guardrail, he took off like a flying jet. Fans chanted for RVD.
Jerry Lynn with a desperation dropkick to RVD sending him over the steel back into ringside area. Jerry Lynn got back in the ring but was stomped by RVD. Rob Van Dam levelled Jerry Lynn in the corner with a hard forearm shot. Jerry Lynn with a unique roll-up in the corner and got a two, Jerry Lynn ducked a clothesline went for a powerbomb, but RVD reversed it and planted Jerry Lynn on his back before he went for a rolling thunder into a spinning heel kick. Jerry Lynn avoided a Senton as he had it well scouted, amazing action.
So fact paced, it’s absolutely unbelievable.
RVD avoided a tornado DDT by Jerry Lynn and then hit a Northern Light’s Suplex and got a two count, and the fans show there appreciation.
RVD and ECW are both chanted by the crowd.
Jerry Lynn got placed up top and RVD climbed and the two exchanged shots, Jerry Lynn with an amazing sunset flip and RVD kicked out after this move from the corner. Jerry Lynn clotheslined RVD hard to the mat.
Barely any breaks now which was good, the pacing still was unbelievable and now they were just going at it full throttle for the last ten minutes. Jerry set up a table outside the ring. Jerry Lynn throws Van Dam into the steel. RVD reverses Lynn
Source(s): A Couple of minutes later after Van Dam hit his Van Daminator Lynn hit a sunsetflip from the top to the outside ring apron catching RVD and driving him through the table! WOW! A back and forth exchange until Mr. PPV finally picks up the win with a huge frog splash. - Anonymous1 decade ago
Kurt Angle vs John Cena.

1.The Headshrinkers vs The Steiner Bros is one of the most under-rated matches In my opinion. I thought it was a good match, my pick for the best match at Wrestlemania IX. Thing is, it was really a filler match.
2.Bret Hart vs Bulldog at In Your House 5. Everyone remembers their epic clash at Wembley Stadium in 1992, but this match is just as good.... yet remains a forgotten classic.
3.Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar Iron Man match from Smackdown.
I didn't know how this match would work, but it was brilliant! Lesnar got himself intentionally dq'ed in the opening minutes of the match by hitting Angle with a chair, which caused him to bleed heavily and add a great layer of drama. It was one of the most action packed Iron Man matches I ever watched and yet I never hear anyone talk about it.
4.HBK vs Tito Santana from WM 8 was a decent match too. Not mentioned a lot.

no one ever really talks about HBK vs Stone Cold even though it was a good match (could've been better but HBK was battling a back injury and Stone Cold became more of a brawler instead of a technical wrestler cause of the neck injury)...the match was the main event of a wrestlemania and the OFFICIAL start of the attitude era

Shawn Michaels vs. Shelton Benjamin on Raw 2005.. One of the frickin' most AMAZINGEST matches EVER, and no one probably even remembers it.. The ending of the match was jaw dropping, and I could watch that match over and over and never get bored.. I forgot the exact date, but I can almost guarantee it was in 2005.. That, to me, was one of the greatest matches of that year :)..!

@Sandy I remember that one..
also another one of mine is John Morrison vs The Miz at I think WWE Bragging Rights 2009
