Panama City, Florida?
That's where I'm headed to live for two years...I've lived in the Destin area, but that was nearly seven years ago, and I can't recall ever heading to Panama City.
Is it a nice place? To be honest, the pictures on the Wikipedia page don't suggest so. Racially diverse? Friendly?
They don't seem to have a Barns and Noble. Just throwing that out.

It has a great beach, but except for tourists is a small town.
It is diverse and fairly friendly.
Panama City is a little lower on the economic scale than Destin.
