I'm 14 and getting wisdom teeth pulled, is it like getting a normal tooth pulled?
I am really frightened to get my wisdom teeth pulled, is it like getting normal teeth pulled or is it a different process? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I'm 14 to and got my wisdom teeth pulled. Getting your wisdom teeth is different (I think, Ive never had any other teeth pulled.) But when they pull wisdom teeth they have to use this things to keep your mouth wide open during the procedure so they can get to the back of your mouth. They also have to cut into your gums to get the teeth out (unless they're already grown.) Your mouth will be really swollen for a few days but it goes away. just remember to listen to your doctor and you'll be fine. And its better to do it now because otherwise your mouth will get to crowded and it will hurt so much worse than to just get them pulled.

Are you sure? The expected eruption age for wisdom teeth is 16-21. I have yet to see a 14 year old with wisdom teeth in their mouth - visible on an x-ray yes, but not in the mouth.
Orthodontists sometimes take out the back teeth at age 14, but these are the second molars - wisdom teeth are the third molars.
Wisdom teeth vary a lot as to how bad they are to take out: Upper ones can be very easy indeed, but can also be hard, if they're impacted. Lower ones are usually more difficult than the uppers.
But check things out - you are very unlikely to have wisdom teeth in your mouth yet.

I was 14 when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, and I'm 34 now, so it's not unheard of. In my case, I had a very messed up mouth. I needed 4 permanent teeth removed and orthodontics to fix my teeth. There was no room for the wisdom teeth to come in, so they had to be removed. As for whether it's better to get them pulled when you are younger... That's on a case by case basis. For some people, that's not the case. For me, they had to come out early, or else bigger problems would occur. I'd recommend 2nd opinion. Also, the Oral Surgeon will determine for certain if they need to come out. Did you dentist refer you to one?

Every one who's gotten their wisdom teeth pulled that I know of has been put to sleep. I think it's a lot more surgical than getting other teeth pulled. But since you're asleep, it'll be a lot less painful during and a lot more painful afterwards. Your cheeks might also get really swollen, and you'll only be able to eat liquids for a while. But it's probably one of the easiest surgeries you'll ever get, so I wouldn't worry.

Well, I know that other people say that it's painful but for me it didn't hurt a bit. I got all four of my wisdom teeth plus another four regular teeth pulled at once. They gave me anesthesia and for a couple of days I couldn't feel my mouth and I got to eat ALOT of ice cream :) I wouldn't be too worried about it because even if it does hurt just remember that pain is only temporary.

Unfortunatly it is very painful and much worse than getting a regular tooth pulled. If you are lucky they will put you under or twilight you so you wont have to be awake during the actual process. Basically if they havent come through, and at your age they wont have, they have to cut open the gums and pull the tooth out. If you have insurance I would make sure they pay for pain medication because my friend got hers removed, she was out of school for 3 days and on vicodin.

no... when u get a baby tooth puled out it hurts for a few minutes.. if after 10 minutes it still hurts ur parents might give u nurofen (or some other pain killer)
getting a wisdom tooth pulled out.. depending on how bad they r u will get either local anesthetics (numbs the area, u're awak) or general anesthetics (they knock u out)
and it hurts for atleast a week after they've been pulled oout

Not at all, you feel nothing until after... It hurts like hell after. You get some crazy meds though. Don't worry too much, it's pretty easy plus you get to be waited on after the operation. Basically you get put to sleep, you wake up and it's done. Then you are sore and can't eat/suck through a straw for a while.
