    You're planning a barbecue? I take it you've got a gazebo!

You can get good barbecue packs from any decent butcher, it works out much cheaper than buying everything separate in a supermarket. Sausages and burgers are a definite hit with kids and pork chops, ribs etc are easily prepared on a barbecue. I don't usually bother with chicken, it's too much trouble as it needs to be prepared indoors before being finished on the barbecue but chicken will definitely appeal to everyone if you can be bothered with the preparation. The usual salad stuff, chips, dips and salsa usually go down well too.

I hope you get good weather...oh and don't forget plenty of liquid refreshments.

Pulled pork. Pulled pork is great for large groups and you don't need to worry about tons of stuff like rolls, onion, mustard etc. to go with burgers. Also, it doesn't have bones.

You can prepare ahead of time,,,,it is fully cooked,,,,and you can save leftovers.

It is what we eat in Hawaii at the largest family get affairs.

Always have vegetables on hand. Saute a big bag involving frozen mixed vegetables in essential olive oil and garlic. Add some red pepper or even turmeric for additional flavor and separate into portion-sized containers for that fridge.

BBQ chicken and ribs--you'll have a choice of beef or chicken. Potato salad, baked beans with bacon, tossed salad or coleslaw and garlic bread.

Give your protein extra low-calorie flavor by adding a salsa or chutney rather then a gooey cream sauce.

Dump the unhealthy food. If you want to stay clear of temptation, make sure you clean out the fridge and the kitchen

Beware of "fat-free" or "zero trans fats" foods as you will be trading fats for huge numbers of sugar or sodium.
