Post Service Peace Corps benefits for Mental Health Issues?

I am leaving Peace Corps due to some personal mental health issues regarding the sudden onset of Anxiety-related problems. I cannot find a SINGLE thing in the peace corps documents on Google that talks about benefits under FECA for workers comp claims regarding Mental Health! I want to know if Peace Corps will pay for any sessions with a therapist around these issues when I am back in the US. I am technically choosing to "Medically Separate".

Help?

I wish you the best of luck.

Peace Corps will pay for *three* sessions with a therapist. That is it. It doesn't matter the reasons why you ET, that's standard.

It might be possible to get more: What you need to do, I think, is get a "voucher" from your PCMO stating that mental health is an "unresolved health issue." Peace Corps is *supposed* to be responsible for any medical conditions you come home with that you didn't have while there, but in my experience it doesn't work that way and you have to fight for them.

The Corps Care insurance is totally worthless. You should get the one month free, but find something better after that. I paid for Corps Care for two years -- over $2000 -- and they covered a whopping $200 of a $2000 ER bill I incurred, and pidnothing on a regular doctor's appointment. So please look for options.

At one time, the Peace Corps handbook thing was posted online by a group called Developmentary. I can't find it now, but if I do I will send it to you.

If you need to email an outsider, feel free to drop me a line. I've counseled others through ET, too.

You can click the "L" and go from there or message me from the Yahoo discussion group. I know you're on there.

EDIT: here's the link to the manual: http://www.peacecorps.gov/index.cfm?shell=about.po...
