Question for Muslim folks regarding etiquette after a death in the family?

My daughters boyfriends father just passed away. We are non-Muslim and I am totally in the dark as to whether it is appropriate to offer a dish for her to bring for the family and friends who are filing in by the numbers to his home to pay their respects.

I would be so appreciative of any one who can offer advice if the offering of food or another gesture is appropriate.

Thanks!

it is different from country to country, for us(arab countries) as i am a muslim, we only talk to them how sad we are, and we pray for him to enter paradise, and get mercy.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but am interested to see other people's answers as my daughter's boyfriend is also Muslim.

    xx
