in the UK ,why do people seem to be just accepting government net censoring/ regulation without any fight?
i keep hearing a lot of stories these days about either ; the government ' are ' going to regulate the internet - their going to regulate 'parts' of the internet or their going to start regulating social networking websites like twitter, facebook or even youtube .
that you will have to be careful what you type on the net in future and on any websites incase anybody takes offence ? and the era of internet anonymity is approaching an end .
as well as that, in general ive heard stories a lot about the governments of the west will soon take steps to regulate the net - block what websites they dont deem appropriate , restrict what sites you can visit etc .
heres a recent write up in the news recently about internet censorship provided by russia today;
'' A short while back we first told you about how Google had taken it upon themselves to censor any words that were associated with piracy sites from your searches. We also spoke of whispers that congress was working to ensure that the federal government would be able to unilaterally order search engines such a Google to block sites they put on a blacklist. Apparently the rumors were correct, because the Senate has introduced a bill that would give the government legal power to either disrupt or shut down completely, any websites "dedicated to infringing activities ".
regarding it , one thing i dont see is people doing much about it or putting up much of a fight ?
why are these government threats and policies not finding much resistance ? does no one value a free open internet ? net neutrality or anonymity ?
im not condoning any illegal actions like terrorism or pedophilia etc - but neither do i want to be censored about what sites i can visit or prevented from exercising ' free speech ' ?
id appreciate your opinions.

Many are not just accepting government net censoring. Just look for anonops blogspot or 4chan or Anonymous group and many others that fight it. The only thing is that people have jobs and other troubles in life so, after a time, they just take care of them and don't protest as much.
Actually the second article in the anonops blog is about what you're talking.

I have to tell you pigs are happy creatures in their environment. Could that explain it?
There are so many web sites that are not acceptable and I agree with censoring.
