The most dangerous group of criminals owning guns is central government. Governments murdered more than 100 million people in the 20th century. The one of two groups in government that should carry guns are citizen soldiers in their resident states, with a strong commitment to family, God, the constitution, local communities and their state.

All police, unaccountable to the citizens, should also be disbanded in favor of an elected sheriff. An elected sheriff accountable to the people via the ballot box is the only proper peace officer for a free people. This elected sheriff and deputies should also be armed. Police should not be armed except with a club and handcuffs and should serve simple duties like night watchmen or jailers.

This idea doesn't sit well with all the fascists, communists and statists infesting Washington DC.

As a gun owner, I have to concede that some of the laws on the books are very necessary.

The idea of a wife beater in possession of a firearm is a very bad thing. Thus, I have no objections to abusive people being denied access to guns. The same holds true for the mentally ill.

And that there are some weapons that should just not be in the hands of anyone outside of the military. I have a really hard time justifying selling .50 Browning sniper rifles that can kill a person over a mile away.

In general, the vast majority of gun owners are civil and do not pose a threat as individuals or as a group. It is the random violent type that would use any means to advance such violence that make things difficult for the rest of the community. My belief is that people such as this would not be stopped by gun laws, but by enforcement.

I absolutely agree that citizens have the right to own firearms no matter where they live. It's a constitutional amendment for all Americans and it doesn't exclude those living in certain cities that doesn't allow it. Gun control is good to a certain extent. I agree with the background checks and all that stuff, but anything more is unnecessary. Criminals don't buy guns over the counter at gun stores. Criminals steal their guns from burglarizing homes....so even more gun control laws wouldn't affect the criminals. I own two guns. A Ruger SP-101 .357 Magnum that I conceal carry and a Ruger Mini-14 that I modified for home defense.

Banning gun's is hopeless, they're worried about Criminal's using guns for robberies?

when your banning guns, your taking them off of gun enthusiasts and people who use them for protection and at the same time, making it easier for criminals to rob people (due to lack of guns), Criminals will always be able to get guns, meet my friend - the black market.

So why criminal's have all the guns they want, People needing guns to defend themselves dont have guns and are alot easier targets, Also the 2nd Amendment from the Constitution which was created by the forefathers of America added this law, If it was so bad - why would the creators of the best country in the world add such a 'wild' law?

Also, its not the guns that are the problem, Switzerland - Every Adult Male gets a Semi-Automatic Sig 550 for Protection, and they're country is one of the best in the world.

Same with Canada, one of the largest hunting nations in the world, and they have no were near as much crime rates as America.

I am for the Second Amendment. Gun control means controlling wear you point and aim your firearm to hit your intended target. I own a large variety of firearms. As for self defense, I find it funny that people expect for the farmer to shoot trespassers or those who intend to harm or steal his livestock, yet when you get into urban environments everyone becomes afraid of the gun.

    two things about guns

One : THose who hammer their guns into tools will be ruled by those who keep their guns.

Two: Only those who are afraid of guns being used on them for their actions or future actions wish to take your guns away.

Citizens are legally responsible for their own safety. It is then immoral and inhumane to outlaw the tools necessary for citizens to protect themselves. And remember: the police can usually get to you only AFTER a situation is over.

For example, when Kennesaw, GA, mandated that citizens have handguns, ammo and know how to use them, their crime rate --gun and otherwise-- plummeted. http://www.google.com/search?q=kennesaw+gun+ord

Gun control is a myth. The only people that are affected by gun control laws are those people who are law-abiding citizens. People who want guns for criminal activity will get guns illegally. Compare gun control with drug control.

gun control is not crime control. violent crimes and murders have gone down every year in the us for at least the last ten years even though americans buy over one million firearms every year. so every year we add more guns and every year crime goes down. that's the facts. you can get the exact numbers and statistics from the fbi website. more guns means less crime...fact. cities with the highest crime rates ? the ones with the strictest gun control...fact

Hell, the government already controls what we say via 'hate speech'. It's not too far a stretch to take our guns away so we can't blow their useless asses away.

Disarm criminals and you don't need a gun.

Put criminals behind bars and you don't need a gun.
