Should I reveal my gender in my email address?

I'm in the process of creating a new email address that I can put on my CV/resume. Basically, my name is androgynous and you can't tell my gender. It also isn't shorthand for anything (like Sam could be Samantha)

I was thinking about using my name and basically putting "Miss" in front of it.

e.g. if my name was Sam Davis: misssamdavis@emailprovider.com

Do you think that putting "Miss" in front of my name would make it look unprofessional and childish? More importantly do you think revealing my gender in my email address or CV is necessary? If you were an employer would you be put off by my potential email address?

What suggestions for CV-safe email addresses do you have?

It is not necessary to disclose your gender in your e-mail address, but adding Miss or Ms to your name on the cover letter or CV would be appropriate. It is best not to surprise the interviewer about your gender. They might wonder what else you aren't telling them. It also would be best to have a gender neutral e-mail address to keep the creeps away.

you could make a shorter nickname out of your name. Like Andi or Andee

and if you spell it with an i or a double e they will know you are a female.

I would say on the resume put

Androgynous (Andi) Smith (if your last name was smith)

Do not put your gender. They will figure it out from the andi with an i. And you need them to know they can call you an easy nickname like andi because 20/20 did a report about exotic sounding names and those people were less likely to get an interview! Because people were afraid you wouldnt have anything in common with the people at the job or they were afraid they would mispronounce your names.

So people with exotic names applied for jobs with their real name and using the same resume applied with classic easy names like Susan and it turned out the easy classic names got more calls for interviews! Horrible but true.

So please let people call you Andi at work and just put that nickname on your resume with an i and they can figure out you are a woman.

I would make your email AndilSmith2011@gmail.com or AS2011@gmail.com (if your last name was Smith). Like use your initials for the email address.

    I think it's fine.

I never thought about judging someone with their Email name, but then I never came across someone with a bizarre one.

I'm sure if the name was pedobear or something I'd be put off from hiring them.

Maybe you could put that you are a female of whatever age in your resume or hint some girly activities or hobbies that you like.

I wouldnt' put miss or mr on an email address it looks odd, just go with your name.

Are you concerned they will know your female when applying for a job? Because your name will probably give they game away anyway on your CV

Work places shouldn't pay much attention to the email address in regards to gender. I think they would pay more attention to how professional your email is. I decided to change mine so that it was a little bit more professional. For me as long as it is professional and not kiddish I would think it would be acceptable.

Why not just put your name and then your title (Miss, Mrs or Ms as you prefer) in brackets after it:

    Sam Davis (Ms)

yes I like the 'miss' it sounds professional and also it shows that you are not tied down to a husband and most likely do not have children.
