Why do you think Golden Boy Promotions apologized?
to Pacquiao and decided to settle instead of going in the wrong?
a) Because they knew they were in the wrong and they wanted to make things right?
b) Because they knew that Pacquiao had a case against them and it would be less costly to just apologize and settle?
c) Because they wanted to at least have the possibility by putting one of their fighters in the ring with Pacquiao, i.e. to participate in the Pacquiao sweepstakes
d) To make the first step in calling a truce to their feud with Top Rank so they're able to make fights for the good of boxing?
e) A combination of c) and d), so they're not only able to make fights with Top Rank and get in on the Pacquiao sweepstakes, but so they're also able to maximize their (GBP) profits?
f) other (please explain)

They apologized because somewhere down the line their going to need Top Rank. If you look at the Golden Boy roster its not as deep as the Top Rank roster and they don't have a deep enough talent pool to do some of the "In house" match making that Top Rank does without sacrificing their own guys.
Top Rank has enough talent to fight their own against their own for at least three fights in most divisions because they've built legitimate attractions. Golden Boy on the other hand has really made their name by picking up fighters from other promoters. Khan was with Frank Warren, Floyd Mayweather who's kind of sort of a Golden Boy fighter was with Top Rank, Saul Alvarez was already packaged in Mexico, and David Haye was already packaged in England.
With that being said Golden Boy hasn't been as lucrative they would have imagined and now they have to go back and cross all those bridges they burned by trying to steal guys like Manny Pacquaio, Nonito Donare, and even Marco Antonio Barrerra. So what does anybody do when they their in desperate need of an old friends help......they say Sorry.

I got two guesses and one is, as part of his rehab that he got to make things right, apologized to people that he did wrong and second is they don't have much to chose from. Either to face the lawsuit and have the maximum penalty or settle it now to save some faces and picture themselves as deserving to be respected. One more is to picture themselves as the victim why deserving fights were not made, that it wasn't them but somebody else, a wily decision. They also doesn't have enough to offer since most of the fighters that draws interest belong to TR and the only one they got is Victor Ortiz and Saul Alvarez after losing JMM. If we consider that they tried to offer Canelo as the next opponent of JMM which is a mismatch in terms of size. A show of desperation.
I can not just trust GBP and their motive in apologizing after showing arrogance and being stubborn. They have a share on all the proceeds that involved Manny's fight and to bashed him after these is a sign of being ungrateful. I am sure that you too will find it hard to trust people like them.

They need Top Rank because Top Rank has better and more known fighters. GPB makes a lot of money by doing business with Top Rank.
Odlanyer so far deserves te best answer in my opinion!
