    No, this is not normal. This is the weight of many fully-developed babies. I would say that the due date was incorrect.

    Are you concerned with the child's health, or disputing the date of conception?

    I weighed 6lb 8 oz when I was born at full term. I believe the healthy range is 6-9lb, so the baby should be just fine.

    If the pregnancy had gone to full-term, there's a good chance the baby would have been born weighing about 10lb, so if I was the mother, I'd consider that premature birth something of a blessing!

    No, that's impossible. It would never happen. Now, if you mean the gestational age of the baby is 7 months (meaning the baby is premature by roughly 8 weeks), then yes it would be quite normal for it to weigh 6-7lbs, but even that would be a bit big! Usually a baby born 8 weeks premature would weigh closer to 5lbs.

    When you say 7 month premature baby..I assume you mean the baby was 2 months premature.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Weight_vs_gestat...

    6.6 = 3000 grams

    2 months premature = 30 weeks GA

    Using the above chart. The baby is quite large for it's age.

    It's the size of a baby that is about 1-2mths older.

    My brother was like that, my mum was embarrassed because he was a giant monster baby in the premature tiny baby ward. I think my bro was 10lb and 5or6wks prem.

    I'm sorry, but having a baby that's 7 months premature is impossible, at least it is when the baby survives. About 3/4 months premature is quite normal. I myself was 3 months premature. But I was about 3lbs, even though I was a twin. So a non-twin at that age, should be about 6 lbs easily. But this doesn't sound normal...

    Well, it is possible, although quite unusual. Maybe due date was calculated wrong.

    Anyway, if baby is premature, weight is less important, more important is how her organs (especially lungs) are developed, i.e. will she be able to eat and breath on her own.

    At 7 Months premature, The baby wouldn't even be fully developed, Let alone weight 6-7Lbs.

    yes that can happen some baby's can born at 9 pound so your baby being 6 nearly 7 bounds doesn't sound that un normal.

    Its not normal but not uncommon. All babies weigh differently whether they are premature or full term.
