Dissatisfied with his stage name as Davy (and Davie) Jones, which in the mid-1960s invited confusion with Davy Jones of The Monkees, Bowie re-named himself after the 19th century American frontiersman Jim Bowie and the knife he had popularized.His April 1967 solo single, "The Laughing Gnome", utilizing sped-up Chipmunk-style vocals, failed to chart. Released six weeks later, his album debut, David Bowie, an amalgam of pop, psychedelia, and music hall, met the same fate. It would be his last release for two years...

Punch, you took the words out of my mouth. Yeah, Bowie has tons of work out there that is known by the casual music fan but probably my favorite work of his is Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud. It was introduced to me around 1990 by a friend and I've been loving the song ever since. Thanks that sharing it with everyone, it's one that needs to be heard more.
So with that said and having to change my mind, I'm going with Quicksand although I do prefer Dinosaur Jr's mix of Quicksand and Andy Warhol with some changed up lyrics.
