How to remove rust from bbq pit?
I have a 1/4 thick upright bbq pit that needs some work. I have an 4 1/2 inch angle grinder and need to know what type of pads to use to remove the rust from the inside/out.
Also I want to paint it. Is there a good primer/paint (spray on) that I can use that will protect it from rust and won't burn off when I bbq? Also the bbq pit is in my yard and comes in direct contact with on of my sprinklers.. will the paint protect it?

Use a wire wheel on your grinder to get rid of the rust but Naval Jelly will work better if the metal is pitted. Naval Jelly is available fro hardware stores etc. Following the instruction carefully. Use a high temperature paint -that is the only thing that will work with the heat.
Having water spray on a hot bbq is not a good idea. The metal could crack. You should do something to keep the water from hitting the hot metal.
