Is there anything wrong with the medication?

My mother's 44years of age and is suffering from high blood pressure since past 4.5 years. She has been on and off medications. Lately, she went for her regular check up and her blood pressure at that moment was pretty high 220/140, it otherwise stays in the limits of 140/100 ( which i know is high otherwise too). On seeing her high BP the doctor without really probing into the history prescribed

1. Amlong MT 50

2. Seloklen XL 25

These medicines have lead to my mother suffering from sudden phases of hypotension throughout the day. She feels nauseated and palpitates with heavy sweats breaking out. This is really getting me worried. The doctor insists that we continue on the medicine but I doubt.

I want to know whether the medicines are those real strong ones that are bringing down the BP to a lower than normal levels?

I am very sorry that your Mother is net feeling well and understand your concern.

The information that is most important to me regarding this story is whether or not the prescribing physician is the same doctor who has been treating your mother since she was initially diagnosed with hypertension or anytime thereafter in her disease.

One would hope that a complete history was taken and that the doctor is fully aware of Mom's past response to anti-hypertensive medications. Have the pauses in medication in the past been under the guidance of a doctor or a choice made by the patient? This does make a difference.

The symptoms you've described are side effects of the medications and her body will adjust. She has been operating on a very high blood pressure and the medications are working to lower the pressure- one of them is an extended release preparation to carry her through the day. These are typical medications, nothing outlandish.

If you are doubting the doctor, you can certainly take your mother to another Physician for a second opinion or ask if the medications can be adjusted.

Best of health to Mom. She is fortunate to have you as her ally.

Does your mom have back pains at all? That would be because of pinched muscles and pinched muscles will raise her blood pressure as well. The sweats and all seem to indicate that she might have them. Freeing up her back muscles will get rid of any muscle problems there and may bring her blood pressure back to where it was before. Here's how to free up the back muscles to get rid of the pains there:

    Back:

    (do from a sitting position)

Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.

For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
