  • Two different BP readings on different arms at the same time? possible?

On measuring the blood pressure on right arm the reading was 89/54 and on measuring it on the left it was 113/73.

The BP instrument i'm using is OMRON wrist blood pressure monitor and has been synchronized with other traditional instrument and is pretty reliable.

I have noticed this happening a lot of times. I'm quite curious about this phenomenon.

    So, I want to ask:

    a) Is this normal? Two different readings of the same person, at the same time (almost).

    b) I know it should not be making much of a difference but which hand should be preferred while measuring BP?

PS: I read somewhere, left is a preferred choice cuz its closest to the heart. Makes sense, but errr...

  • Is there anything wrong with the medication?

My mother's 44years of age and is suffering from high blood pressure since past 4.5 years. She has been on and off medications. Lately, she went for her regular check up and her blood pressure at that moment was pretty high 220/140, it otherwise stays in the limits of 140/100 ( which i know is high otherwise too). On seeing her high BP the doctor without really probing into the history prescribed

    1. Amlong MT 50

    2. Seloklen XL 25

These medicines have lead to my mother suffering from sudden phases of hypotension throughout the day. She feels nauseated and palpitates with heavy sweats breaking out. This is really getting me worried. The doctor insists that we continue on the medicine but I doubt.

I want to know whether the medicines are those real strong ones that are bringing down the BP to a lower than normal levels?
